Aliexpress handbrake

Hello, hope you are having a good day. I've been looking for a handbrake for some time now and as a student, it's really difficult financially to just pull the trigger on a nicer item like the fanatec handbrake. so I've been looking at some Aliexpress handbrakes and I'm wondering for those who tried if it's worth saving some money and getting a cheaper one from there, or will I be ultimately disappointed? there are many types of handbrakes over there ranging from a 14-bit version to 64-bit version (don't know how true those numbers are, probably a lie). please share your experiences with me. thanks.

its value is what it costs, it works without problems, but the spring does not have much resistance and is very noisy. I understand that you don't buy anything with this money, but my advice is to bet on something second-hand from Fanatec

Or maybe research the web a bit, there are loads of handbrake DIY´s out there.

I have the one above here ^^. No amount of grease will stop that unholy, crunchy, creaky sound it makes. The metal its made from isnt the highest quality. The angle of pull (for lack of better term) is very awkward but its quite adjustable in that regard so Im sure you can improve it.

That being said, its acceptable for the price and perfectly fine out of the box. The couple issues I listed above are easily corrected if youre the least bit crafty.

At first I changed the retention spring with another type I had but quickly added a hydro. I made a longer handle and angled it properly. Cant see myself changing it from here, perfect now. Even the fanatec would be a huge downgrade.

Don't listen to Karl.
A piece of cork is as good as a true brake mod in his eyes.

He reviews a product he cannot install correctly.

Youre fully capable Im positive. This specific handbrake (and the couple other "similar ebay" ones) are made to attach a master cylinder to. I think its an actual handbrake for vehicles that they slap a hall sensor on with a spring retention system. My hydro is off at the moment (waiting for a different one) but I can show you the spring I put on and the handle.

I think you'd better save some money. If you are a student, then aliexpress is 100% suitable for you. I can say with confidence that everything I ordered related to bicycles came in the best possible form. To avoid unnecessary problems or bad sellers, I use Alitools.
