Assetto Corsa user base statistics six years later.

Seems like the masses want variety and modablity, which AC provides. These numbers are quite telling.

Ha. And I started seeing endurance racing in AC. There was a Daytona 24h last week with drivers swap, night and day etc.
I don't think there is any other simracing title at the moment that gives you such a wide variety of choices: racing with all sorts of cars, driving supercars on track or road, drifting, creating mods..

Oeps that Steam figures are very bad. I know it is a small team but I think something has to be changed for ACC strategic direction.
Maybe more open for mods and apps.
I think Steam figures for ACC aren't bad at all and the user base is increasing (especially after 1.1) but certainly not in the same.. league as other single-series sims like F1 2019. Of course GT3 is not as popular as F1 and ACC is more "sim" than F1 2019 but maybe there is something to learn there.

While AC was filling an empty gap (between hardcore simracing and driving games), ACC finds itself in a crowded space as it partially competes with iRacing and RF2 in the eSports arena, partially with the same AC and Raceroom for more casual GT racing etc. It needs to find something to stand out, and it is not easy. Let's also not forget that the game has been pretty much a "work in progress" until recently.

Let me see. So far it seems they have tried to make it "next-gen" in terms of physics and graphics but the road has been steep up to 1.1. Physics: huge effort on rain, aero, tyres, etc but only recently I hear people saying this is the best simulation of a GT3 car. In any case, they did it. Physics: check. Graphics: the game can be very beautiful and detailed but you need a good system to see that. Triple screen support just arrived. VR still has some detractors. So, great but not totally successful yet.

What else can make the game stand out? Good AI for single player: they're getting there. Still, once you have a good AI you need a good, engaging, single player career/championship, and ACC does not have all bling that for example F1 2019 can offer.

What else? Multiplayer. It certainly won't get you big Steam numbers but it is important for esports. With big grids being enabled etc it seems they are getting there. This is an endurance racing title with full weather so we should be able to see endurance leagues popping up like mushrooms. Sprint racing: (personal opinion) I would prefer to see 'official' mini-leagues to make semi-casual racing more engaging.

Now that the sim has reached maturity, to me they are talking to SRO to do something more together.
I think they did a great move by extending the sim to the Intercontinental GT series, that will certainly make the game interesting for a non-European audience. SRO also has the GT World Challenge series, the FIA GT World Cup race in Macau (me wants! Please!) GT4, TC America and etc so it looks perfectly logic that they extend ACC to all of those and cover all SRO stuff. At the same time they can work with SRO to promote official esports GT series using ACC.
