I've noted that I tend to improve lap times by big jumps after taking an extended break, and have wondered why. My hypothesis is that during the break I've forgotten bad habits learned while pushing too hard trying to go faster.
I recently got back from an extended trip and found the same. After being surprised at a nice improvement, I did a time trial on the Nordshleife in my favorite 90's F1 car. Huh, that was pretty good, let's see the time.
Uh, where is it? Not on page 2, where I've been stuck forever. No, I didn't slip to page 3. Huh, not at the bottom of page 1 (I could dream, right?). Is it missing or something?
Oh, wait ... there it is! Its ... NUMBER 1 for that car!
