ClubSport 2.5 on a desk?

The great thing with such a good wheel is that even if you only use it at the same strength as your G920, it will be a huge upgrade!
Rotates faster, smoother, no deadzone, more details etc etc.

The CSW 2.5 also has a setting for smoothing so when the vibrations from kerbs or any vibration effects like ABS rumble in Assetto Corsa are too much for your desk, you could dial that in.
It has 10 steps :)

So yeah, definitely fine on a solid desk! Just maybe not use it at full strength and fight it.

I have mine bolted to a fairly solid desk, and it works fine.
Hi, remember me from 2 years ago with the TS-PC issues? Are you still happy with your CSW? :)
I am!

Thanks for the replies. It's taken me about a year to feel like I'd really appreciate a better setup. I'm trying to avoid the expense of a rig; so far I've found my pedals mounted to a board shoved against the wall, a folding metal chair (the kind that nests when folded), and a desk are very solid.

I started with a simple PC desk and g29.. Its a pretty flimsy desk by itself. When I switched to the CSW I needed something more sturdy so my solution was to anchor/bolt the desk to the studs in my wall. Originally this was just going to be temporary but its worked so well its eliminated my desire to buy a dedicated rig, aluminum or otherwise.

Ive built on to it to accommodate my shifter, handbrake, tactile, sound, all the sim bits, inverted pedals mounted to it, everything really.

The only downside to this setup is that it rattles my entire house. -But im not the one bothered by that so...

I’ve been considering doing the same thing to my Ikea desk if it’s it’s unstable with a new wheel. Frankly I’m a little baffled by so many people building rigs (yeah, I understand the cool factor) when there are walls to brace pedals against and attach things to. I’m always reading about people struggling with office chairs while I sit in my cheap, slightly padded folding chair (the kind you seen in church basements, etc.) that doesn’t move at all even though it’s just sitting on the floor.

A guess: brake pedal is not load cell.

So if I had a load cell pedal I’d push it through the wall? Somehow I can’t see that happening. Even if the chair did move (it’s on a carpeted floor with a thicker than normal pad — I don’t know if I could push it over even pushing my feet against the wall itself) the most I’d need would be a way to link the pedals and chair; I’m considering a unistrut brace of some kind when I do upgrade.

I’m not putting down extrusion rigs or the people who own them. I’d love to have one. I jut think that it’s interesting to see and imagine other solutions and part of that is looking at what the setup really needs to do. For example, I get that a bucket seat is cool and immersion is a thing, but think about it: a bucket seat is designed to hold you steady against lateral G forces. Unless you have one heck of a motion rig, high Gs aren’t a thing.

Another example: I saw a work holder/sawhorse kind of thing rated to hold 1300 pounds. Looked rock-stable. Cost under $50 — a possible wheel mount?
