CSL Elite Racing Wheel - for PS4 - FFB question

I'm looking at upgrading my Wheel and trying to decide between the Fanatec Elite (for PS4) and the Thrustmaster T300 or similar in the price range.
Viewing many of the reviews on UTube etc, I've seen reference to the Elite Wheel having a rather noisy rattle type sound under FFB, but otherwise good reports.

Has anyone here experienced this "noise", and if so, is it only under exceptional circumstances (very rough surface or high FFB settings) or is it more of an on-going issue with this wheel?
One of my prime considerations is smoothness and quietness, the main weaknesses of my G27.
Of course, reliability is also critical.

The rattle noise is real. But is not nwhere near as bad as the G27. Fanatec added a FEI adjustment which allows you to lower the intensity and significantly reduce the rattle. I find it fine in Assetto and ACC it seems to be almost irradicated. RF2 curbs are quite harsh though. If smoothness is very important then perhaps don't risk it. But the FFB is a massive upgrade from the G27 and I am very satisified with my Elite PS4.

The noise you are referring to is a side effect of the single belt drive design. It will become apparent over rough surfaces (particularly in a sim like rFactor 2 which has a very raw, high-frequency output), and saw-tooth kerbs. On typical racing asphalt, it should not make this noise. As Tardy Tony says, the FEI setting helps to reduce the noise also, but you can lose some of the finer surface details, depending on the sim. The brushless motor is much more powerful and much quieter than the two motors in a G27 (for instance when the wheel spins up in drifting, or when you fight against the direction of force), and the overall smoothness (in terms of cogging and friction) is significantly better too. However if noise is your primary concern, and you don't have a specific PS4 requirement, you might want to consider the CSW V2.5 instead, as this does not make this noise under heavy vibration (due to the dual belt system), and is generally quieter overall (the fans in the CSW are also quieter).

Thanks for the replies, most helpful. I really like the look of the CS Elite wheel.
My primary Sims are AC and RRE.
Yes it's only for PC use, and I'd love to get the CSW V2.5 but my wife seems to be baulking at the price.

I went from a DFGT to a Thrustmaster TX Leather rim , was a nice upgrade 2 yrs old still doing the job. If you was to got the Thrustmaster route get the T3PA pedals, the 2 set is a bit lame.

I have the T3PA pedals with a load cell mod. The pedals are now good. But within two months (or so, can't recall now), the throttle squeaked and then the pot started spiking. If (a big if). If the quality of the T3PAs is representative of Thrusties other products...hmmmm. The quality, performance and the trouble free enjoyment the Fanatec CSL gives is makes it good value for money.
