How to get less realistic graphics?

Hello, I have an odd request.

I am wondering if you know how I could make the graphics in Assetto Corsa look less realistic. I'd like it to look similar to games on the Nintendo 64 or Playstation 1 consoles.

Since I'm using VR, I've tried reducing the Steam SuperSampling value, but it doesn't really make the image "block-y" like those of the N64 or PS1.

Another option that may be possible, but is horrendously time-consuming, is to change the skins of all the tracks and cars. I'm hoping there is a much simpler solution, instead.

Thanks for entertaining this request!

Have you tried squinting
Or rub some petroleum jelly all over your VR lenses. !!

Set every adjustment you can find to lowest or shutoff, in Nvidia/AMD, VR and AC control panel.
Now set the VR resolution to the lowest resolution factor you can find.

I’m also sure a member here knows the existence of an sepia or B&W filter that can be used for an unique retro view in your VR headset.

Use the worst made track/car mod you can find, like this rudimentary track https://www.racedepartment.com/threads/targa-florio-73-alpha.159511/
or this track with lots of razor sharp 2D and low poly objects https://www.racedepartment.com/threads/brno-1965.193527/
Maybe more to find when selecting RD mods that do have the lowest review stars.

Then as being the cream on the :poop: , I know there are also lots of drivable funnies like a banana, to give you a real Nintendo feeling.

Note: who knows somewhere on the web, there is an Hotwheels, Lego, Minecraft, My little pony, Hello Kitty, Disney Cars ,Teletubbies or Nintendo mod. Do your search.

edit, did find a couple here at RD, so there most be more on the internet: https://www.racedepartment.com/search/21101915/?q=lego&t=post&c[child_nodes]=1&c[nodes][0]=36&c[title_only]=1&o=relevance

Hi. I know the OP did mention this is for Assetto Corsa, Automobilista (AMS1) is a different game, but not expensive and has tons of free mods & addons etc. It also has a brilliant built in filter for FX Inc Sepia, retro & Black and White.

Hope you get sorted.

That's great idea. It's a cracking mod too.

Just recently a mod update was released to emulate the early physics or something. I believe this would be good too. Allows use of a keyboard or controller too. I think ?.

Thanks for the great post. Disabling Anisotropic Filtering was the ticket for me. It lowered the texture quality enough to satisfy me. When paired with lowering the VR resolution, it looked almost perfect!

After performing these two changes, I've noticed that the cars still had higher quality graphics, and seemed out of place. I'm already using "Force LOD B for other cars in first person view" in CSP, and am wondering if it's possible to Force LOD C, instead. And in addition to that, I'm also wondering if there is a way to change the LOD of the car that I'm driving, too. Ideally, I'd like to enable a setting that does it globally, as opposed to reskinning each car to a lower LOD.

Simply copy the "car name_lod C" file and name it "car name_LOD A" and "car name_LOD B" in the car folder you want to use.
