Indy

Do you think Reiza will release the Indianapolis Motor Speedway before the 28th?
Do you think we will get the road course?
What cars do you think will come with Racing USA part 3?
Personally, I hope we get the road course with IMS even more than wanting oval racing. As much as I like oval racing, I have only been in 1 or 2 oval races online and it seems very few people utilize them in multiplayer. The Indy road course on the other hand is one of my favorite tracks and would be an exciting addition to the game. My hope is racing USA part 3 will have Daytona tri oval- Indy and Indy road course and a short track similar to Texas Motor Speedway, like in PC2, but something different. My dream for a short track would be Bristol Motor Speedway and I guess if we are dreaming a dirt track variant too. What are you guys hoping for? And for cars..HMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Obviously an addition to GT3 would be nice, or even a new GTE car. One of the first post I made was about releasing a GTE car for people with the base game and I still think that would be a good idea. They feel so good now but I dont see them much in multiplayer and my guess is people might not want to start those sessions because they know everyone wont be able to play. My way of thinking is at this point you would get more people buying racing USA if they knew how good the class is.

This would be absolutely amazing!

When they first announced ovals would be in pt. 3, I was hoping it would be nascar content, but looking at the past content it will more than likely be Indy oval content which doesn't really interest me.
A couple popular oval tracks.
Tho I have a ton of GT3/GTE content in every other game I play, I do hope they fill out the two classes and BOP them.

The Adrenaline DLC is what I'm most excited for.
Off-road dirt content!!
Hopefully it won't be rehashed AMS content, I'd gladly take any of the PC2 dirt content.

Isint all the DLC content available to everyone in mp or is just the tracks?

I have all of the track except Monza and I believe you can obviously play any track in MP but the GTE, DPI and Cart cars are not available to base game players. I have heard others talk about dirt content and to be honest I will be happy with anything that comes out. Ya the dirt track on PC2 is fun but when it comes to rally it Dirt 2.0 for that. It is strange, every time I play 2.0 I wonder why I dont play it more. I honestly think if they had a real heads up or 4 car races that would be the top racing game out there. Though I get it is not true to life, I think that is a missed opportunity.

I'm sort of worried that we won't get Indy at all.

If you think about it, every car that raced in CART in 1995, 1998, and 2000 are included in FUSA except for the ones from one manufacturer: Penske.

The rights to those cars are owned by Roger Penske, the same guy who owns Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And if he wouldn't license 20 year old cars that presumably aren't worth much, he's probably not going to license the Speedway either.

Also, modern IndyCars can't be licensed by Reiza because Motorsport Games has that license, ostensibly because they're going to release an official game based on the 2023 season. (We'll see if it gets there.) I could see the MSG licensing deal keeping Penske from licensing IMS to anyone else.

Also, not for nothing, but FUSA 1998 and 2000 didn't actually race at Indy.

I could see them leaving Indy out.

In terms of ovals in general, supposedly Racing USA Part 3 is (unlicensed) NASCAR themed, and you kind of need ovals to do that.

They'll give us Daytona. My picks for the other tracks are Michigan (historically significant for CART despite being a NASCAR track) and Phoenix (NASCAR track, which currently hosts the championship and used to host CART.) If Daytona doesn't count as a third track (because it's already in the game) look for Homestead or Darlington.

The other key linking those tracks together is that they're all actually owned by NASCAR rather than some other company. Since they already have one NASCAR track license, presumably they can get others.

It's literally in every other sim already.

Sorry Im not following this Indy discussion extremely close.
Probably because I got more or less fed up with Prototypes and ovals in iRacing.
But is the Cart cars in AMS2 not realistic enought?
I mean reasonably close to RL Indy cars?

A new Indy version was just added to RaceRoom in January 2022.

How about iRacing?

IMS has been in R3E and iRacing for years. Presumably the license is still in effect for those games.

Like I said before, this is all a guess. But not licensing the Penske cars (or the name CART, which is also owned by Penske Entertainment and also not used by Reiza) is a hint that that there's something up with the license.

Licenses are not something you get once and then use for perpetuity. Content has been previously pulled from sims because the license holder refused to extend it. Adding a new version of Indy in 2022 certainly required Sector 3 to have an ongoing license to the track. There are no magical "MSG owns rights to everything so no one can do anything" -licenses. It's made up FUD. They have an exclusive license to run the Virtual Le Mans 24h eSports event. That's pretty much it.

Sure. But if Sector 3 signed a 10 year license for IMS in 2015 (when Sector 3 first added the track) then that license is still in effect in 2022.

I'm guessing at the length of the contract, but it makes sense that existing deals (like with Sector 3 and iRacing and EA) were allowed to continue and be grandfathered in and would only expire at the conclusion of the deal.

Non of the license issues makes any sense to me what so ever. I would pay to have my cars and my tracks put into a game. GT3 was never a popular race series before sim racing and exotics outside of Ferrari and Lambo were basically not known. I had never heard of an R8 before sim racing. Now if I got rich it would be the car to have. My point is that it is free advertising. Another thing I dont understand is do you have to get everyones permission. The manufactures, the organizers and everyone. It just seems silly.

You say this but companies want to protect their image and allowing anyone to use their license isn't in their interests. They either want a lot of money or for the license holder not to put the brand into disrepute with what they're doing. I doubt Reiza have the money for for the first bit or the pedigree with the major brands to persuade the license holders its in their interests. To get the GT3 cars in the first place they had to go through the Brasilian endurance series to start with.

Given what PCars/SMS and MSG did with a bunch of licenses they've obtained I can see these companies being a lot more restrictive with who they license their stuff out to going forward.

MSG I get. But did SMS screw license holders somehow?
With just how much of a buggy mess the PCars games were at the time and the issues around the financing of the games etc.

Not sure companies are big fans of their branded products spawning on top of each other on the grid, driver models wearing rival branded car outfits in their cars, flying off into space etc on vital videos.

I might be wrong here but I can see negative public image having somewhat of an effect.

Only sim racers are deluded to think Project CARS was anything but a success as a franchise when it comes to marketing the brands. Far shittier mobile games have officially licensed Ferraris, Lambos etc.
