is it worth a new gpu?

hi guys

i have a i5-4690k prosessor and 8 gb of ram
and a gforce ti750
and i have ben thinking of a new graphic card latley.
when i am playing assetto corsa i have a framerate of 60-90fps
without postprosessing.
and now i see sometimes a white line on my monitor, its not there at the boot sequense
so think it is the gpu.
im thinking a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Ti.
it would be in my price range.
i play dcs flightsim also but since i uppgraded to 2.5? with post prosessing my 750ti cant hadle it any more.

so could you please tell me your thougts and aid me to the right card for me?

thanks in advance

Well, I wouldn't go fpr the 1660 ti. For a little more you can get a 2060 which is arguable better, and for much less you can get the rx 570 which is about 20 to 25% but 60% cheaper. It will still be way better than the 750ti and allow you to turn all eye candy on at 1080p.
There is also the upcoming (next month maybe) rx 5500 and 5500xt which is set to challenge the 1660 and 1660ti I believe. AMD is really going strong on undercurting nvidia so if you can, wait a bit. If you are upgrading, make sure your psu is up to snuff as especially amd polaris cards (rx 570, 580 or 590) will be more power hungry.

You could also go for gtx1080, they, as of now are very nicely priced, plenty of punch
from that card, buy second hand with care, could find a bargain for notability under £300.
I have a rtx2080 and a gtx1080 not that much difference in performance certainly relative
to cost.:)

Yeah. If OP is willing tp gp digging for second hand, some bargains can be found. A 1080 should cost slightly less than a 1660ti and offer slightly better performancd

There are two cards in my humble opinion that give
the optimum return with performance and price.
Rtx2080 and gtx1080.
( admittedly it’s a close run thing with other cards, pricing marketing makes sure of that ).
My Gtx 1080 clocks at 2025mhz in AC running a
3440x1440 display at 120fps for 95% of the time
with lots of AI or online players.
It’s my i5 6600k cpu that struggles.

If you are short on cash, a used 980 TI is a great buy on ebay.

Generally your graphics card is almost always the best update, at least if you are playing at high resolutions.

A bit more RAM would not hurt. Your loading times in DCS must be coffee break class.

I got a 2070 for the same price as a 2060. The store was selling them out because of the Super model. Maybe you can find a similar deal if you look around.

Nice find! Especially now that the 2070 is making a return... ahhh nvidia... you crazy you...

For the original poster, there is now the 1660 Super. Basically a cheaper 1660 ti. If you are keen on a new card, I would still got for the 570 but the 1660 super is the solid £200 choice.

So Christmas 2019 Nvidia card lineup will be:
GTX 1650
GTX 1650 Super
GTX 1660
GTX 1660 Super
GTX 1660 ti

RTX 2060
RTX 2060 Super
RTX 2070
RTX 2070 Super
RTX 2080 Super
RTX 2080 Ti

that is 11 GPUs!!! 11!!!!

i want 16 gb ram and a graphicscard for 400 Euro

UserBenchmarks: Game 25%, Desk 67%, Work 34%
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K - 65.6%
GPU: Nvidia GTX 750-Ti - 19.3%
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 250GB - 103.9%
HDD: Maxtor 6L300S0 300GB - 45.5%
USB: Seagate Backup+ SL 1TB - 28.7%
USB: BUFFALO HD-PCTU3 1TB - 29.9%
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 1600 C9 2x4GB - 61.4%
MBD: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3

This ram is slightly faster than yours and a 16GB kit can be had for 60 euros leaving your 340 for a GPU (a bit more if you resell your ram on ebay for 15 or 20 euros).

In order of price:
RX 570 (€138) (best value for money all around):

RX 580 (€170):

GTX 1660 (€209):

GTX 1660 Super (€232):

GTX 1660 Ti (€272) - Don't really recommend it... Super does the same thing for 50 less:

Rx 5700 (€319) - Best card you can buy atm in terms of price per performance:

RTX 2060 (€330) - If you really want to go team green here. But with the 5700 at that price you will be losing performance for extra cost:

----
This is of course only new parts. You can get cheap 980Ti, 1080 cards on ebay and such which will perform in line with the 1660 Super and the 2060 respectively.

But that RX5700 is super cheap... Like, grab that one if you can afford. Don't think about it!

Here are your two parts together:
€388 with shipping included.

Hope this helps.

i have alway used nvidia, o i forgot that i had a matrox card way way back in time.
i understand that i can use a radeon card but is the difference?
The rx5700 is about 12% better than the rtx 2060 and in this case it is even cheaper.

Check out the closing thoughts at anandtech for a relative performance chart.

IF you had a bigger budget a 2070 Super or a 2080 might be possible (and there is an argument to be made to get an rx 5700XT instead) but for your price range, the rx 5700 is unbeatable in terms of performance. They are really good cards, you will not regret it!

I decided against the AMD card for various reasons. Stock design was loud and hot back then. Card in general gets hotter compared to the nVidia card and on top of that it uses more power.
