Is the Play Seat F1 Seat good for non-F1 style cars

Hi -
this is my first posting here... trying to get back into iracing after many years (having played it a few times but never had a good setup and then the kids prevented me from really getting going). I am back... son is 6 and I have a dedicated space to keep it so the wires are not all over my living room with toddlers...
2 big questions -

A. Is the Play Seat F1 seat going to be fun and good if I want to drive over cars like the GT cars, Ferraris 458, etc.

B. What is a good basic Fanatec wheel, base and pedal set to buy, the options are confusing. Might just start simple with a logitech wheel until I progress and feel a need for something better (but i am keen on getting the F1 seat - just looks too cool).

I plan to use Oculus Rift and get a laptop that will meet the specs for iracing use.

Thank you.

The f1 seat should be good though you will be lounging. The csl elite wheel base is the starting fanatec wheel though you will spend about £500 on the base, rim and pedals. Alternatively you can go to logitec or to a t150/300 just to dip your toes. They are not as good as the fanatec but will be much cheaper and better than Logitech wheels.

hi, thanks for your feedback. hmm, I wonder if I will feel too loungy? I really like the look of that F1 seat, I guess I can get it and always get the other more upright seat too in the future, its like 1/3 the price. I think that F1 seat will keep some value.

in you comments, you say logitec and logitech, after these two different brands?

No. It was late. So Logitech wheels are good but for the same money you can get a T150 which will be better. And for a bit more money you can get a T300 which is even better. Heck, on eBay you can probably score a cheap alcantara T300 (I have the rim, it is very good) which comes with the t3pa pedals. You are probably fine with the F1 playseat.

So I ordered my Playseat F1 Red... I also decided on Thrustmaster TS-PC 488 Challenge Wheel and bought the T3PA pedals. I was a little concerned over reading review about thurstmaster wheels just failing - so I bought the extended warranty offered by wal-mart for 4yr at $77. I felt the wal mart warranty by Allstate was more reputable than some of these other extended warranty companies I have never hear of which have shady practices... now onto my PC...
