DiRT 4 Multiplayer: Historic Championship Tonight

Good morning,

I would like to start a multiplayer championship tonight. Platform will be steam - the only way for me to invite you then.

Race takes place in Historic cars, H2 class (Escort, Kadet etc.)

Every location will be raced with 4 stages each, weather will mostly be dry! Length & complexity of the stages vary

Start will be around 9 pm (UTC +1, Timezone Berlin).

Anyone who is interested can leave a comment here (if we are not "friends" on steam please leave your name here or add me (Walter Röhrl) on steam).
Would be happy if we get 8 players

joined in for three stages of america, end even though i was of course dead last on all stages i did, the mechanism was fun to experience:
e.g. you get only one minute in the repair shop before the rally to set up stuff, me having never played the historic cars before, dumdidum.
you then get taken to the start and everyone gets the same countdown. in the top right you can (on a straight) check where you are in relation to the other players timewise and on the left you see little arrows with players names next to the timing bar. if someone crashes out you do not pass their wreck (since everyone plays alone) but get a little message that this or that player has crashed out. Once the first player is in, 120 secs start counting down on your screen and you need to finish in these 120 secs to be counted.
People were talking over their microphones between stages, since i don't use one, i cannot say how that is set up. Players got points after the rally if they had finished all stages, the repair in between stages also had to be set up in less than a minute, after frantically clicking through my considerable damage i got back on track with just 3 secs to go ... and a fit car

all in all, it worked like a charm and was great fun, thx lumue for setting up.

Yeah was a blast. to be honest I think it was the most fun I have had in Dirt4. Intense and very fun racing, with some tracks/class having alot of us within a few seconds of each other. Bring on the next go.

Here's a quick summary of last night (for me in Germany

)

We started with Historic RWD cars - my personal favourites so far in this game! We had very close races with 4 racers finishing within 5 seconds more than once. That was challenging

Switching to Gr. A cars the fun even raised (at least in my eyes). Those cars are pure fun. Drove the Escort and it's a weapon! Although you shift all the time through those 7 gears it's maximum fun! For me those are the best cars in the whole game (for now

).
Changing to Gr. B 4WD we did only 1 stage at Australia but those cars were to challenging for meas it was already past midnight

My eyes and brain definitely were too slow for the power of the Audi...no matter that I'm Walter Röhrl

Did 2 more stages in Gr. B RWD then before I quit at about 1:30am and the Manta was fun. Steve managed the "widowmaker" 037 so well I got quite jealous

Sitting at work now since 1,5hrs nearly falling asleep every 5 minutes but boys, it was worth it!!!!

@Eckhart von Glan : One thing you cannot know about multiplayer sessions so far is, that when you finish a stage you can have a live view on the cars that are still racing. I viewed your runs and there is room for improvement

So we might do another "german session" some day where I could give you some tipps if wanted. As I use a mic it would be quite easy...

Hey guys,

will be online and ready to (multi)play from 9pm (UTC+1) tonight. As there is no work for me tomorrow it could get late...

I will create a (private) session and send some invites then - so you can join if you like

Of course you can then invite your friends, too!
We will drive through all classes of modern and historic cars...main aspect is to have fun!!

I'll open a session at about 9pm (UTC+1, GMT+2).
Anyone who wants to join is welcome - the session will be private, so you have to write a message via steam to get an invitation.
We will drive different classes and locations.
Last time we had it like this: The driver that finishes last in an event can decide what location/class will be next. We did some stages with all drivers having the same car - that even raised the fun! We'll see...

probably will miss it, since the patch is basically a reinstall and my harddrive is full i will first need to find another 27GB of space to do the reinstall/patch. with weather being splendid, garden seems more fun than installing one of my backup harddrives permanently ...
