General Shared track assets?

Before I start modelling trucks, pitwall tents, fire extinguishers, etc. from scratch for AC_CREW related stuff, is there any repository for track assets?
I know some modders have made awesome assets and I could go and ask all of them individually for permission to use them, but wouldn't it be cool to have them all in one place for everyone to use (after permission is granted) to liven up their tracks? I believe this is tried before but without results.

List of stuff I'm thinking about:
Trucks
Cars
Fire extinguishers
Wheel carts
Pitwall tents
Paddock tents/stuff
Cones
Marshalls
Trees
Road/grass/sand/guardrail/etc. textures
Etc.

I've been wondering the same. Some kind of repository where modders could bestow their assets if they would like, would be a huge benefit for the whole community. I think. Haven't come across anything like that.

Yeah, it’s not a bad idea, but I can see why this might not turn into reality. Track object modeling is a grind already and then to see your tirewall, or pit objects not smoothed correctly, or associated with low quality content... might be a turn off, little to no incentive, IMO

As long as those people don't credit me for the "awesome track side barriers" they wrongly used and now look horrible, I'm fine with that :p
But I can see how it could be offputting for some.

I think this sort of think wouldn't work if the modders would share their most precious assets. The assets would need to be something that their authors wouldn't mind getting defiled by the low quality modders. I'm talking about some kind of scrap-assets-bank for less experienced (or just lazy :)) modders.

This is just something I've been dreaming about, a dumb idea maybe.

I mean look at RTB xpacks. I've pulled apart a few, but most of them where either probably stolen stuff from payware or badly done. 5k cones and square traffic lights :p

With our own stuff there's the added issue of UV mapping. I don't use one texture per object if i can, I put numerous on one map. The other user than either has to use all objects linked to that texture or live with wasted resources

In my mind it all sounded so simple, to create our own "XPack" but with slightly higher quality. Their family cars pack is nice and all to fill some empty paddocks, but from 100 m or closer it's horrible.
Maybe it's a utopia then :p

I think the problem is the market of people doing things from scratch approximately is smaller than people doing things from scratch properly. So they'd want "cars, north america, 1992" not just generic sedans, and the specific cones, fire extinguishers, marshal outfits, etc.
