So, just days before the historic Nurburgring is released, right?

More than a year ago, the historic Nurburgring track variant was promised to arrive by the end of this year.

And it's still definitely coming within a few days now, right?

Right?

:)

So sad. I bought that track in part based on that promise.
There's a little debate going on now in the Reiza forums about this whole thing. I understand being patient with Reiza as they are a small studio, Covid, etc. But I do find it frustrating when they promise things by a certain date and then don't deliver. I of course certainly prefer that they just not release something half-baked. I understand how development cycles go and how difficult it can be to hit deadlines. All we can do is to be patient.

But I think they would do well to go back to being more vague about their releases. "We hope to release this by..." would be better than "This will be released by..." and then miss the date.

I also think that there are cultural things at play here as the Western European/American mindset is different from the Brazilian one in terms of deadlines. Again, all we can do is to be patient and enjoy the content that we already have.

I am really looking forward to Road America though.

I think everyone is looking into it too much. I just think it's a way of giving the early backers value of backing early. There is a reason delays happen everytime there is content that people are looking forward to.

As an early backer, let me tell you you're wrong. There are some fixes and adjustments in beta currently, but no new content.

Reiza are just getting some well earned rest over the holidays and live their real world lives. As anxious as some people might be about the new content - Road America in my case - in the end, you'll get it, but later than expected. If it's a dealbreaker for you that an annouced date cannot be adhered to, I cannot help you. These things happen.

This is what Renato wrote about this matter on the Reiza forums today:

"Apologies everyone for not offering some news sooner, and also for the understandable disappointment some will have from learning there will be no further content release until the new year - simply put the whole team has been in need of some proper rest time and we just didn’t have enough in the tank to deliver all we planned for this month.

There will however be a new build & dev update tomorrow, so we are not quite done for 2021 yet - just the new content & remaining Racin’ USA Pt2 items will take a few more weeks as we catch our collective breath"

It's not even remotely sad. The game has come on in leaps and bounds in recent months, they have just announced a whole load of great new stuff in the pipeline and reassured people that historic Nurburgring & Spa and Road America will be done soon. Stop looking at your calendar and enjoy ;)

"New cars from premium brands filling up existing classes as well as well as branching out to new ones, new tracks, historical tracks, further AI development, more multiplayer features, Steam achievements, full course yellows, oval racing, dirt racing and maybe the beginning of what should be a very elaborate career mode are just some of the highlights of what we have planned for Automobilista 2 over the course of 2022"

More over the top promises.

Why the negativity? Seems a massively weird attitude to take. And they say planned, not promised.

They had already mentioned in the September development update that the Spa and Nurburgring 70s historical variants will be released in 2022.

I honestly couldn't care less when we get it. What's your hurry? I already like the content we have. More is a bonus, whenever it arrives. I tend to like games with ongoing development and regular updates. If you don't, fine - others are available. I don't see where naivety comes into it.

Re: Racin' USA part 3 - I would guess that will probably include the already mentioned oval racing/tracks and the full course yellow update at least. I think Racin' USA part 2 surpassed most expectations, so I really don't see many reasons to be negative.

Now, I certainly didn't intend to start any fires. It was just me wishing it would finally arrive. And of course I want it to be awesome instead of rushed.

AMS2 is my favorite sim, to the extent that I've basically stopped playing any of my others, and the progress they have been making has been great.

But when new DLC's are pushed out for sale before completing their older ones, one perhaps sees how business priorities can intrude. So, should I buy that next track that also comes with promises that it will be completed "next year"?

Maybe we should accept that we live in a world in which everything is always "early access," whether called that or not. Or maybe it's best to be content with what one gets at the moment and discount any promises. No chance of feeling disappointed that way, and if more ever does come, yay bonus!

P.S., I'm currently King of the Nordshleife! World record, baby! Well, until someone actually fast takes a lap in that car. ;)

I think that's fair. To my mind, AMS2 is still 'early access' in many ways - and I don't see that as a problem. I can understand some people may find Reiza's particular DLC business model frustrating - but ultimately the output is good, albeit sometimes behind their original schedules - and the updates are often beyond what was 'promised' in terms of features/content.

I just bought 3 more premium tracks, including one incomplete one coming with promises that it will be finished sometime this year. First quarter per latest rumor, simultaneous with the Nurburgring historic track? One can hope.

Maybe I'm not utterly bitter and cynical after all? Nah, I'm way up there with the best! ;)

Oh, and as expected, my world-record Nordschleife run lasted considerably less than a day. Lol.
