Last time I had Assetto Corsa installed, I renamed the Content Manager EXE to AssettoCorsa.exe and deleted a lot of the Kunos content I have no interest in (e.g. Fiorano, street cars) to save hard drive space. But fast forward a couple months, out of the blue, Steam decided that AC needed to be updated, and would not let me start the game without overwriting the Content Manager EXE and re-installing all that content I didn't want.
Do any of you have tips for maintaining a stripped-down or mods-only AC install? Any way to avoid Steam wrecking your heavily customized install?
One idea I had was deleting all content from an AC install and zipping the remaining folders into a ZIP archive that I could quickly extract every time I needed to do a re-install – so I could in effect have an empty install ready to go at any time. This is a trick people used to do with rFactor 1, I believe. Has anyone ever tried something like this with AC?
