Triple 1440p 27" w 3060ti ?

I am currently upgrading from triple 24" 1080p monitors to triple 27" 1440p monitors.

Current PC is an AMD Ryzen 3700X with 16GB RAM (3200hz I believe, could be 3600) and a 1080 ti.

Based on peoples' experience with similar combos, what kind of fps at what settings would I be able to achieve in AC, AMS1, RaceRoom, or rFactor with a 3060 ti?

Thank you in advance,
Chris

Unfortunately, no answers from the community yet. I would be curious to hear from RTX 3070 users as well.

I still have not set up my rig to see what the current 1080ti can manage.

A couple of questions pops up:

1: Are you planning to 'upgrade' with a 3060ti? Because that card and your 1080ti are nearly identical in performance. It would be a side-grade.
2: Why 27'' if you're going with 1440p? 27'' is ideal for 1080p, 32'' would be better with 1440p.
3: What fps do you want? 1440p triples require very powerful hardware, much better than a 1080ti or 3060ti.

Your current 1080ti would be near perfect for triple 1080p instead. Thats what I'd do.

Thank you for your thoughts.

1) I agree the 1080 ti is still a terrific card. I purchased mine for $425 two years ago for use with 24-in triples, thinking would buy 1080p triples in time (and be content.)

By most reports, 3060 ti and 3070 are both capable of decent triple 1440p performance, but I am aware they are not the top-tier card like to 1080 ti was.

32-in / 34-in is not an option due to space constraints--let alone financial limitation$.

2) I bought one flat 27-in Sceptre 1440p 165 hz monitor during the holidays for less than $200 from Amazon. Now I SEE the pixels on my 27-in 1080p montior I use on my workstation!

I hope it's not over-wrought analogy, but when you are 10-in from the screen (and we know we want to be as close to the monitor as possible for immersion and FOV), instead of seeing beautifully rendered text on a smooth piece of paper (1440p) it looks like mimeographed characters on linen (1080p).

Moral of the story--avoid increasing your expectations as long as you can!

In contrast, the 1080p "deals" I was finding were $149 for lower tier options and $229 for a very nice MSI Optix that I tried side by side with the Sceptre.

3) Again, I was able to buy (3) 1440p 165hz monitors for ~$200 each, so I thought I would future proof on my monitors a little and run on lower settings with the 1080 ti.

FWIW I'm running 3x2K 27" screens with a 2080Super (I think the 3060ti is similar if a little better). I struggle massively with ACC (and basically now given up with it) but AC, rF2 and AMS2 I tend to get around 80-120fps (mod dependant) and, in AC anyway, mainly always grids of 20+ cars

Thank you very much for sharing your experience!

ACC has consistently proven as the most challenging for triples. Glad to know I would have the capacity for AMS2.

wouldn't cpu and ram make a difference in this aswell? Like if you have a bad cpu and/or ram then triples will be harder to run aswell.

UPDATE: I have not upgraded my GPU from a 1080ti, but I have acquired two additional 27-in 1440p monitors.

To recap my PC hardware:

AMD Ryzen 3700X (bone stock settings)
16GB RAM (3200hz I believe, could be 3600) GTX 1080 ti

This setup runs triple 27" 1440p monitors at ultra settings very nicely for hot lapping in AC. A full grid of cars at race start could be a whole different matter. I rarely get any seat time, but will try to report back soon.
