Where and what best AC version to buy? MS FF wheel or ?

Wanting to join in, wanting to know where and what best AC version to buy, appreciate input.

I just bought a decent gamer PC, after being limited way too long to rfactor1 on older hardware, Wanting buy AC tonight and prepare for RaceDept racing and other online opps soon.

Planning to buy 'AC Ultimate Edition' through Steam (just $20 rt now), assuming that allows many online race opportunities (but not the ACC which see is newer beta that I don't need to start with yet could add 'the pack' later..).

-So Steam is the place to buy, and 'AC Ult Edtn' game install allows lots of online race Opps CMS and other?
-I will initially continue using well working MS Sidewinder FF wheel/pedal set, aware has some limitations, anyone advise against using such? If not advised, maybe best Wheel setup to move up to for < $200 ?

Thanks RaceDept folk, have enjoyed racing here in past and NOW looking forward to more

The install took < 30mins, and I was even sampling online pickup racing within an hour. And the game is quite impressive, Wow..
Actuallly, the USB Microsoft Sidewinder FF wheel/pedal set work very well, was placing mid pack in the server pickup racing just fine, but will be shopping for an upgrade coming weeks.
Oh - My PC's desktop shortcut points at a Steam Game# so I must not have a traditional game install on my PC that I can apply the many avail add ons to? If so, that's a big drawback, I will be wanting to start adding to the game like I did with rFactor for years.
Or, the Steam DLC's referred to is downloadable content that I add and lots of add ons for small fees? I'm hoping to add tools/features, tracks, even car sets to some degree. Thx for input on this.
