Which graphics card for Samsung C49RG90 - 6900 XT or 3080 TI FE?

Hello Guys,

I get the Samsung C49RG90 monitor used and am satisfied with it so far. ACC looks absolut great with the 32:9 raito.

Unfortunately, my current graphics card (Nvidia RTX 3070) only delivers around 70-80 FPS at high graphics settings in ACC. Especially the memory with 8GB seems to be the problem here with the high resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixel.

Which graphics card would be best for this monitor and ACC (yes, I know about the crazy graphics card prices :O_o:)?

Currently I concider the AMD RX 6900 XT or the Nvidia 3080 TI but I´m not sure whether one or the other would have advantages for ACC at this resolution?

Maybe someone has the mentioned cards and monitor and can say something about the possible performance in ACC. I would be very grateful for any tips or further information.

Thx,
HansOlsen

Looks like your 3070 is simply at full load (98%), while the 7686 MB should be the DDR ram and the 4739 MB are the graphics card vram.
So the memory is far from being an issue. But that resolution will bring most GPUs to their knees.

If you want to upgrade, get an Nvidia card for acc. DLSS looks quite well in my opinion (way better than amd fsr) and can give you a massive fps boost!

Did you test it with your 3070? It's only there since the latest game + Nvidia driver update!

The 6900 XT should be conciderd the rival to the 3090 (so above the 3080 TI) but most of the time the
Nvidia Cards are recommended for ACC.

Currently I have an "okish" offer for an AMD RX 6900 XT and the Nvidia 3080 TI but still I´m undecided.

I think for simracing on ACC especially, the 3080ti is the way to go if costs are the same.

ACC runs a chunk better as its unreal engine is better optimised for Nvidia plus you can use DLSS (although FSR is pretty good), even when you consider using FSR with a 6900xt it's not going to run quite as well as the 3080ti in that specific sim. iRacing has Nvidia optimisations for triples and VR, but all other sims there isn't much difference between the two.

Generally 6900xt is good at console port games and esports FPS games at 1080p and 1440p. Which is where these 3090 comparisons are based. But you need to be careful which game you play as AMD performs wildly different depending on the game. Things are the best they have been for AMD for quite some time but it's still true. Nvidia is the better performance on average, also because the driver team at Nvidia has way more money and resources.

So I would not get the 6900xt unless you can get a deal significantly cheaper than the 3080ti. Thats the 6900xts only advantage.

I have both a 6900xt and a 3080ti. 6900xt used on a TV playing console port games mainly amongst other things, which it excels at as many console games were developed on AMD hardware they usually are better optimised for AMD. 3080ti on the triple 1440p simrig which it excels at.

Also depends what CPU you run as well, for example if you're on intel forget AMD gpus as SAM doesn't work as well.

There are other things as well, such as CUDA support which AMD does not have, AMD also lacking a video encoder good enough for streaming video online etc.

Thx for your detailed information!

I went for an RTX 3080 TI, so far ACC runs nice on more or less epic settings.
I tried FSR and DLSS, for my eyes FSR looks wa nicer than DLSS ( seems bit mushy in my opinion).
No problem. I think for sure it’s the right choice between the two especially if ACC is your priority. I agree prefer FSR as well in ACC. DLSS just isn’t great for fast moving games generally.

I must be really lucky I just switched from vr to the g9 and my 2070 super runs acc great on almost all epic settings 60-85 fps. I almost bought a new gpu but now I’ll hang on for the 40 series which can hopefully actually run my g2 or whatever exists then
