F1 2020: The 5 Most Underrated Tracks

5 CIRCUIT DE BARCELONA-CATALUNYA, SPAIN This track is used for pre-season testing in Formula 1, and with good reason. It boasts a healthy combination of fast, sweeping corners with slower, more technical ones. You’ll be tested on the brakes, at high loads and under acceleration as well at this circuit. There are those who would call it simple or boring, but truly nailing a lap around this circuit feels really smooth. Sector three is a point against this track, as is the fact that it is too hard to overtake there. 4 CIRCUIT PAUL RICARD, FRANCE Le Castellet, as it is also known, is a much-maligned circuit among F1 fans. Its gaudy run-off areas come under frequent fire, as does the quality of racing to be found there. However, the latter issue is far less prevalent in F1 2020 than it is in real life. In fact, the racing can be really quite good in-game. Add in the high chances of rain and very difficult final sector and you’ve got a decent track on your hands. It’s far from the best, but it’s not the worst either. 3 AUTÓDROMO HERMANOS RODRÍGUEZ, MEXICO F1 2020 may not be able to properly simulate the altitude which makes the Mexican Grand Prix so different in real life, but the circuit is a good one, nevertheless. The long and wide run down to turn one off of the start line is a lot of fun, and the first sector allows for great racing. Admittedly, the middle sector can be frustrating for those who struggle with corner-cutting. However, when you actually get it spot on you feel unstoppable. 2 SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT, CHINA The site of the Chinese Grand Prix isn’t as heavily criticized as the first three tracks in this gallery, nor is it held in as high regard as it should be. The opening ‘snail’ section of track is really tough to nail, while still being forgiving of small errors. The huge back straight allows for plentiful battling and overtaking, and there are several corners which truly test a driver’s skill. For us, this is one of the best circuits in F1 2020. 1 SAKHIR INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT, BAHRAIN For our money, Sakhir is one of the finest racing circuits ever created. There are criticisms to be made about its location, but as ribbons of tarmac go, this one is great. The first four corners facilitate excellent wheel-to-wheel action while still testing the driver's ability to lay the power down. Turn ten is one of the toughest corners in Formula 1, providing racers with a big challenge halfway through the lap. Sakhir tests skill and precision without racing paying the price. HONORABLE MENTION CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS, USA COTA is a very good racetrack. The steep elevation changes throughout the lap along with a good variety of different types of corners make it very fun to drive. Not only that, but any battles which begin on the back straight can carry on for several corners after that, rather than ending in the first braking zone. It failed to make the top five as a result of it not being disliked as much as some of the others. HONORABLE MENTION HUNGARORING, HUNGARY This is a slightly different circuit from many of the others on the calendar. It is tighter and more technically challenging. F1 2020's rendition of the track is much better than what was managed by any of the game’s predecessors. In the previous games, the track was overly difficult and slippery, and not very much fun to drive. In F1 2020, the Hungaroring is a far more enjoyable experience. HONOURABLE MENTION HANOI STREET CIRCUIT, VIETNAM Here it is, the bogeyman of Formula 1 tracks. Many people completely detest this circuit. While we agree that it is one of the worst tracks in the game, we don’t think it is as bad as many would have you believe. The long, tightening corners in the first and second sectors are interesting and unique. What’s more, the final sector is actually quite a thrilling experience, as any high-speed series of corners with close walls would be.

F1 2020 is a fun game, but there are some tracks we all dread when we see them up next on the calendar. However, some of these circuits are not as bad as many people believe. Of course, everybody has their own individual preferences, but there are some tracks that we believe to be generally underrated by fans of F1 2020. Here are the five best examples, as well as a few honorable mentions that didn’t quite make the list.
