F1 24 Gameplay Showcases New Spa and Silverstone Recreations

F1 24 Gameplay Showcases New Spa and Silverstone Recreations.jpg
It feels like on the run-up to launch, every day is ‘new F1 24 info day’. This Monday, 29th April, is no exception, with reimagined tracks highlighted.

The representation of Spa-Francorchamps within Electronic Arts and Codemasters Formula 1 games has long stuck out like a sore thumb.

While the development team has added new-to-F1 tracks, such as last year’s Las Vegas Strip Street Circuit, older circuits have largely been left to rot.

The flowing lines of Belgium’s finest deserved better, with F1 2023’s representation of Spa the automotive equivalent of Jennifer Lawrence missing her front teeth.

Even looking past its lack of 2022 run-off and track-side building updates, in past F1 games, the corners were inaccurate – the jagged track edges on the run-up to Blanchimont particularly irksome.

Mercifully, that changes for this year’s F1 24. During the initial reveal trailer, the grandstand atop Raidillon was present, alongside coloured track run-off. Footage now released showcases how the entire venue has been re-made, with fresh kerbing all around, gravel run-off at La Source and the reprofiled Speaker’s Corner.

Perhaps more pertinently, the track camber looks to have been changed too, the lap-concluding Chicane notably more life-life.

Silverstone is also listed as one of two re-made venues, although in the recent gameplay, it is less clear to spot specific changes – perhaps a back-to-back comparison come the May launch would be beneficial.

Revised kerbing at Becketts and Chapel Curve is clear. Perhaps the undulations at Vale are more noticeable too.

Meanwhile, the Lusail (formerly Losail) International Circuit looks familiar, but with vibrant run-off areas. The on-screen display, when using the 'TV pod' camera angle also seems to have been refreshed.

Spa, Silverstone, Lusail and Jeddah Corniche are the four venues expected to receive updates. Jeddah's changes remain to be seen, while whether circuits such as the Red Bull Ring and the Hungaroring will also be refreshed is unclear.

What do you make of the updated venues so far? Let us know in the comments below, or via X: @OverTake_gg.

Day and rain graphics looks good, but for some reason night races look somewhat toyish. Good to see them showing more in cockpit view, which is how it should be played.

Grrrrrr.......

Tempted to see this running on my recently purchased 32:9 Samsung 57" G9 monitor

Would like to know if the 2024 edition within its settings menus. Retains the "tobii eye tracker" support as this enables both head and eye tracking. With (Clean UI) it only shows the onscreen HUD elements if you look at that location of the screen....

The only way to play this game is in VR ,have they done anything about the blurry distance view?
Probably not,used same company?
I am currently playing F1 22 and the only things that can improve the distance graphics are TAA and Fidelity FX Sharpening and increasing the pixel density to around 120%, it made the image just alright enough where i can enjoy the game in VR.

For me to even consider purchasing this title, it would have to be on sale.

The previous versions of VR were soo disappointing, especially given the scale of the company and the F1 license.

Unfortunately, I don’t see any significant improvements in VR for this year.

One thing Devs seem to miss despite the small market for VR, VR users are almost guaranteed to buy a title if VR is implemented well.

Still the graphics are not like the races in the game, there are only 5 drivers on the board, in fact all 20 are shown, so a big disappointment. I probably won't wait for Codemaster and EA to make it like in real life.
