I warm up to the idea of racing a Diesel with about as much enthusiasm as racing an electric car; which is to say, not much. Nonetheless, Audi dominated in the Diesel era with their R-series cars, from which I chose the R10 TDI (preceded by the R8 and succeeded by the R15 TDI) because it won most of the long-form endurance races it entered between 2006 and 2010, including Sebring and LeMans. The main feature of the Diesel, from the driver's viewpoint, is an abundance of low-rpm torque, which announces itself with a twitchy rear end under power in the lower gears. The open cockpit is nice in a sim, but it must have been tiring in the real world. This particular R10 was originally authored by NeilB1971 and updated by Rospen (although many others have tweaked the original mod). Ten laps of Spa.
