What a ridiculously empty gesture.

The very idea itself is absurd, turning off non essential lighting for an hour. FFS if they're non-essential then turn them off permanently. I'm sorry but this stuff really gets my goat, there's absolutely no morally justifiable reason for a building to be lit like some of those are. The Olympic swimming pool in Beijing, no need. Palace of Westminster, London, no need. They lecture us on saving energy whilst they burn thousands of our pounds/dollars/yen/euros through the night for no useful purpose, it's just absurd, really it is.

That's absolutely true.

Not only WE who must take part, but THEM as well.

Also the racing lights in Singapore wastes energy as well.

Aye, kind of ironic when they're trying to promote green energy and such. Pure hypocrisy, in a world that needs to reduce it's costs let's blow another X million artificially lighting a race track that we could race whilst the free light in the sky is on.

Actually, this is the first year of Earth Hour going "global" in Indonesia.
