Is it possible to tone down the hz on screens?

Hi,
I have a 5 year old pc with an updated graphics card (rtx 2070) running three 27inch full hd 60hz screens. I play acc with mostly low/medium settings getting mostly 85 fps.
I would like to buy 3 32 inch full hd 144hz screens but I know that my pc will never reach 144 fps and that the 144hz is too demanding.
Can I have the screens run at 90 or 100 hz and will that run fluently or will that cause problems? Or is that just not possible?
I also play ghostrecon wildlands at around 57fps. Will that run well at these settings?

I'd say more hz is always better even with low fps (more hz gives you less tearing) you always want to set your screen on the highest possible hz setting.
