Stains on my Sprint pedals

HE Pro served me well since 2016, that makes it what, 7 years , no rust, no breakages, just occasional lubing. Just handed them over to simracer friend after getting Simtrecs Pro Pedals (beast of the product, btw).
Too bad quality for midrange product went down, at least Ultimate+ still seems like the old school design and quality, quite dated though.

I sold my Sprints some months ago. I cleaned them well before but some stains were still there. However, the buyer didn't noticed and said that my pedals were like new. I'm glad I could get rid of them. Now I have the SRP GTR.

WTF? I bought these last year to replace all stainless steel units! Why didn't I see these reports sooner?
