CUSTOM SHADERS PATCH AND CONTENT MANAGER IS REQUIRED

Install Instructions:
Automatic - Content Manager:
  1. Drag the .zip into the Content Manager window
  2. Open the hamburger menu (3 horizontal line icon) from the top and click "Install"
OR Manual:
  • Extract the "extension" folder into your "\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\" folder.
Then, in Content Manager:
  • Navigate to Settings -> Custom Shaders Patch -> Chaser Camera
  • Ensure that the Chaser Camera extension is Active, and change the script to A-Spec
The A-Spec chaser camera is now installed and active.

Recommended Settings:
In Content Manager:
- Navigate to Settings -> Assetto Corsa -> Chaser Camera
- Use these settings for an authentic Gran Turismo 3 experience
Distance: 4.5m
Height: 1.15m
Pitch: 0
These settings were tested with multiple cars and their Gran Turismo 3 equivalents.

I also recommend using trial_echidna's GT3 Hud app for the fullest experience:

Known Issues:
  • Sound cuts out at large yaw angles
  • Camera pitch is inaccurate with yaw angle on slopes fixed in 1.1

Props for making this custom chase camera for AC, you really nailed exactly the same movements as from the original game on the PS2. I really felt lots of nostaliga rightaway upon watching that comparison video of yours, since I used to play it when I was very young.

Hope you'll make other chase cameras from other games such as GT4, Forza Motorsport/Horizon, Project Gotham Racing, etc...
Awesome mod. A very accurate representation of the gt3 camera, and brings back childhood memories. the sound gets cut yes, but so far, only when i crash. Great work!

Engine sound cuts out momentarily when the yaw angle is high (eg when making a sharp turn). Is there a way to reduce the maximum angle the camera allows for the car to deviate sideways, so it's more locked in?
