CBV Fuel Calc
Simple fuel calculation app for Assetto Corsa
Why I made itSimple fuel calculation app for Assetto Corsa
- I got bored of taking off my VR headset to calculate the fuel I needed on my phone, or just having to use the calculator altogether
- Predicted fuel usage in Assetto Corsa can't be trusted
- I ran out of fuel on the last lap during league races
- There is always someone in the chat asking how much fuel is needed for the race
What it does
It essentially calculates the fuel amount you need for the race while you practice. It has support for timed races and for fixed amount of laps races. When a lap is valid, which means it can be used for the fuel calculation, it will store the used amount of fuel for that lap and remember the number of laps used for the calculation. You can change between timed and fixed race at any time, change the race time or lap count and also how much extra fuel you want to be on the safe side, or even the expected amount of laps.
There is also configuration support if you are using Content Manager.
Calculations are based on a single, multiple or stored sessions. The calculation types have different life-cycles explained below.
Single session : Resets every time a new session is started. For instance when going from practice to qualifying.
Multiple sessions : Is not reset between sessions but resets when you quit the sim.
Stored sessions : Is not reset between sessions and is stored on disk. Next time you load the same combo, if previous data exists it will be loaded.
Any calculation type can be reset at any time.
During races the amount of fuel you would have left at the end of the race is being shown. You can easily see how much you need to refuel during a pit stop or if you need to coast to save fuel (and see the result!).
For more information on what has changed, see the updates!
What it looks like
Minimized view when practicing, shows the fuel needed to complete the race.
Minimized view during race shows additional fuel, time and laps left at the end of the race. If you are short on fuel it will be shown with a minus sign (-).
Maximized view during practice session.
Notes :
- Switch between the different calculation types by clicking on them.
- Extra liters are added on top of the calculated fuel needed for the race. This is just to be on the safe side. For this example 2 liters would actually be too much since the fuel consumption for a single lap is less than one liter.
- Laps counted for fuel usage average shows how much laps have been used to calculate the average. The more laps you drive, the better the average should be.
- Expected race laps shows how much laps are predicted for a timed race. This prediction is based on YOUR best lap time (shown below in the UI). In this example for a one hour race this would be 76.6 laps at the 60 minute mark. The calculation then rounds the amount of laps up to 77 for the total usage. If however you believe the race should have a lap more because you are not on the pace, or perhaps because you think it could be a lap more in the end, then just press the '+' icon. The UI then shows (+1) in the UI which means the calculation uses expected 78 race laps instead of 77.
- Slow laps are not counted. By default you have to be within 103% of your best lap time, but you can change this.
- Invalid laps are not counted (4 wheels off track).
- You can reset the calculation if you think the average is bad because you run more fuel than before or because your times have increased and your fuel usage as well for instance.
- Try running race fuel levels to get a better calculated value.
Installation
Copy the apps folder to your Assetto Corsa install directory.
Disclaimer
I made this for myself but it might be useful for others as well. I hope you won't run out of fuel because of using it. Use at your own risk !
Hope you like !
Thanks
Thanks to @WilliamTRiker for coming up with ideas on how to improve the app.
Troubleshooting
If for some reason it is not showing in the apps menu, try disabling the following. It is not clear why this is happening and might not be an issue for everyone. Thanks @Please Stop This for pointing this out.
