When I was about 6 years old back in 1960, we lived in the Hunsrück and the Hahn USAF Airbase wasn´t so far away so I was there on several occations.
They used the F102-Dagger then with enormous afterburner and sold icecream waffels with enormous dimensions.
I was deeply impressed.
In 1991 the USAF left and the airfiled became the home of cargo airliners and cheap flight companies.
Last year the Chinese investors went bankrupt and now I thought it would be time for a different use:
Airport Race!
The track:
Type: circuit
Length: 9km
Width: 10m
Pit boxes: 32
Direction: clockwise
The track uses the real roads and the maintenance road and of course the runway and taxiway.
The concrete slabs are quite bumpy and have reduced grip so you might decide for the ideal line on the bumps or a somewhat longer but smoother line on the tarmac.
There are street lights and runway lights to allow for driving in the dark with headlights on.
The pits are temporary under canvas but have numbering and some equipment.
A set of cameras is provided.
The visual settings require the use of latest CSP to get the procedural grass, lighting and water working.
Final remark:
I dedicate the tracks that I make to the guys at Discord.me/VintageAC.
The flags along pit lane are in the colours of the nations of the „race-drivers“ @Vac.
Credits:
I want to thank:
@Kunos for the best racing game available! – as it is openly designed for “modding”
@Blender – for being my forever darling in 3D modelling
@LilSki for his great tutorials!
@luchian for all his hints and links!
and the other guys at “track-building-series”! - my most important knowledge base
@Jonah Hax for running the VAC-club!
@Goodsmile for his testing and discussion upon the concrete slabs part of the track
and all @Vac for fun I have driving with you
(I´ll be back soon!)
I stole from other tracks the car models: “Ambulance”, “blue Sprinter” and “grey Skoda”.
I downloaded the airplane models from Sketchfab and did some heavy rework (only the "C17 Globemaster" from Yi Tsung Lee didn´t need any - was perfect!)
The rest is made from scratch – this was the fun part!
Textures are made from scratch
Trees from https://meye.dk/ ! These are really wonderful
There is a 10min video on youtube
(it´s a little shaky because I don´t know how to handle the drone cam)

I would love to get the locations of these walls - so I can repair.
