Welcome to the 2021 Formula One Portuguese Grand Prix. Let's get talking about this weekend's race, and don't forget to back your favourite in our poll!

With various flyaway events unable to take place at the beginning of this year, the F1 calendar would have been looking relatively bare. After last year's successful visit to the Algarve International Circuit, we therefore return to Portimao for the third race on this year's calendar and F1's 27th in Portugal.

The track is given great character by its undulating nature, with many commenting on F1's first visit here that it was reminiscent of a rollercoaster. Ample track width also means that the circuit features plenty of overtaking opportunities. So many in fact, that the DRS zone on the main straight has been shortened to make it a little more challenging into turn one. An additional, short DRS zone has been added to the back straight however, which should make it easier for cars to keep up with one another during the middle of the lap.

A cool and dry weekend is expected, so we are unlikely to enjoy a repeat of the wet conditions the race started in last year. Also different to last season's event will be the track limits. Last year the white lines were used as the cut off point, but this time the drivers will be allowed to use the kerbs as the limit. It will be interesting to see whetherthis allows the drivers to match last year's lap times, in spite of the new regulations reducing rear downforce.

With Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton having finished first and second between them at both races this year, it's hard to look beyond one of them for the win on Sunday. With that being said, Sergio Perez impressed at Imola with a front row start, and will no doubt be looking to build on that momentum. Let us know what you're hoping for this weekend, and don't forget to vote for your favourite to win in the poll!

I love it when Nico Rosberg is on the grid because he is very honest and doesn't pull any punches and blunt. No kissing a$$ from Nico

Premium
This is what i want from F1, top 3 for 20 laps now within 3 seconds of eachother, absolutely brilliant

Anyone using F1TV and it keeps crashing or getting stuck in a buffering loop (or casting to TV keeps crashing)? I have 100Mbit Down/30Mbit Up fiber connection with 2ms to my ISP so I don't have internet issues.

What's going on with Russell? Dropped like a rock through the order, and then passed by Latifi? That's having a bad day.

They need to start investigating the Mercedes Car. The Power of this car is ridicolous and you can see it pretty clear on this Track. Cheating at its Best.

Max was well past the curb on that fastest lap. Not sure that will count.

edit... nope

Sad day for Redbull, the mercedes is again the fastest car no excuse. not only faster .. it seems that this car is more balanced. Red bull struggle in the corners will still have a lot of work to do. Max could never win today but I already knew that on Friday and took the maximum today out of p2

Ha, open the thread expecting elevated sodium levels after the race as always. didn't disappoint.
pretty boring race to be honest, stopped watching just after half way.

The teams leave the second, third, and fourth place drivers to tussle for the single fastest lap point, while the master and race leader jets off to another well deserved win - what a champions drive.

It's quite funny how Verstappen thought that he had the fastest lap point in the podium interview. The look on his face was priceless.

Lewis makes passes on the top 3 cars on track and still does not get driver of the day? What does he have to do to get driver of the day?
I can honestly say Lewis will never get driver of the day here or or on the major polls... Go figure.
Does he need it? No!

understandable right? what had you done yourself

I spottet a Mercedes Fanboy. Take it easy too Sweetheart

Oh you're one of those...no logical argument, no proof of cheating, so pulls out the Fanboy trope. RedBull and Max are not perfect, some tracks suit some cars better than others and drivers make mistakes. Anyways, Moving on... :roflmao:

Seems like retiring...and even then I'm sure he won't get it, but he'll be ok. Smiling all the way to the bank and his legacy and records will remain, winning an online popularity contest means nothing in that context, doesn't it? ;)
