Automobilista 2 Version 1.3 Goes Live

Automobilista 2 v13 01.jpg
Automobilista 2 has been updated to version 1.3, which includes improvements to the driveline physics, a new force feedback profile, and some new content.

Reiza Studios has released version 1.3.0.0 of Automobilista 2, and has given players improvements to the differential physics, new force feedback profile, multiplayer ratings, some new content, and lots more.

On the content front, the highly-anticipated part 2 of the Racin' USA DLC was not launched along with the 1.3 update, but Reiza did throw in some new free cars, plus a laser-scanned version of Azure (Monaco). The two cars added are the Volkswagen cars used for the Volkswagen Brasil and Acelerados sponsored eSports series. The track update is an overhaul of Azure, which removed the old version which had been ported from Project CARS 2 and replaced it with a laser-scanned version.

The new differential physics aimed to bring more realism to the cars' behaviour in AMS2, and put to rest a lingering criticism of the driving experience in the title. This has been coupled with a new FFB profile, "Default+", which of course is designed to help players feel more of the road and how the car is behaving.

Another major step forward for AMS2 was the implementation of a multiplayer rating system. This is still in development, but players can now start to build a rating based on clean, fast driving.

The changelog is listed below. Be sure to let us know your thoughts on the updates in the comments below once you've had a chance to try version 1.3 of Automobilista 2.

Great update but GTE not solved by It, could be useful for Racing Usa pt.1 some fixes like BOP and rare shaking on replays. Forcefeedback is better and better on every update, i bought Spa DLC too and wow!! in love with 1993 versión, great job Reiza congratulations, every update feels better than the old one
What's the GTE issue?

Really good update, vintage f1, porsche rsr, so much better now. All cars feel more natural understeer oversteer. mostly the ffb is good apart from a few cars.

Ai improvements on the way.

Very nice update Reiza, thank you for all the work and for making AMS2 better for all of us.

I do not understand the comments about "game changer" update and I cannot feel the "the driveline updates include addition of elasticity moelling" but Reiza fixed a lot of little and bigger issues, so, overall, happy with it all.

I am not going to spend much time with the additional VW, but I am not the targeted audience, as they are part of an online Esport Brazilian project, and I have no doubt they will do great in that context.

Overall, I was, from Renato earlier comments, expecting a more pronounced transformation/advancement of AMS2, It has, in my view, incrementally improved, but I hope, their is more to come.

But if their is not, AMS2, as it stands, is already highly enjoyable, so Reiza, take your time, you are, in my book, already doing great.

I felt improvement on that behavior where, when you lift the throttle, the car would stop turning and understeer until it hits something or until you throttle again...

But I still feel some weirdness in the physics of some cars, so that in order to go faster you need to drive like you are in the gravel, in a rally stage. Some cars in AMS2 go faster sliding sideways, sometimes countersteering for a long period, in situations in which that does not look realistic at all.

I tested the Roco prototype at Londrina and the Porsche 962C at classic Spa

The first car/combo may seem strange but it is my favorite benchmark because somehow I have the time trial record for this one, set in a period I was somewhat getting the ins and outs of AMS2 physics. And I know the dirty work I had to do to get it.

Unfortunately seems that this is still going, you still have to approach the track like a rally stage in order to be fast and that does not feel realistic at all driving modern cars on the tarmac. And the rear of the car still feels sort of weightless and gripless.

I want to believe this is going to improve, and the change in the coasting behavior gives me some hope.

I think a lot of what you get out of this will be dependent on what kit you are using, how you set things up and what you like.

I've had a bunch of issues with some previous versions which have made me put it to one side but this for me after about 6 hours and playing with quite a few different cars feels pretty significant.

The problem with PC games is it's really difficult to tell whether its a game issue or something else. We're all running different variations of PC and Sim hardware so not everyone feels the changes the same way. For people who are having issues with the new FFB/Physics I think its worth repeating delete or rename or your old configs and tuning setups and treat this like a new install, spend a bit of time with the new baseline settings and go from there. You still might not get on with it but you stand a better chance of getting the most out of it if you start from scratch.

The one thing I would call out so far as a "downgrade" is the FPS in the rain. Running in 4K Ultra on a 3700x and 3080 daylight running with 23 AI gets me a locked 90 (which i set in Nvidia Control panel). Rain which would have dropped me into the 60's is giving 45-50 so I'm not sure what's happened there.

It's still got issues, but I'm going to be spending a lot more time on it.

(I feel bad for the people that have flickering objects or stuttering, my game play is very smooth)

As far as the update, ever since I started playing AMS2 I could always feel what the car was doing but now 'even more so' with the new updates and the new Default+ profile (the GT4 cars feel even better now).

Very enjoyable Sim!

Thx REIZA great update. As said this sim is going to crash AC+SOL+CSP.

Couldn't agree more, it did already but the AC players don't know it yet.

AMS2 deserves way more players, but the steam charts show that this update finally brought some new racers, let's hope that they stay!

Thank you Reiza for this AWESOME update ! It's really amazing how far you came, just by dedication to perfection.

The game still stutters like it's a beta. Simply unplayable. Great update!
That is very weird, for me it's the best performing sim, especially in VR. Very strange that you have stutters. Try to delete the Automobilista 2 map in my documents and configure the video settings again.. and reinstall the game, it should not be happening, it's not the most demanding sim (it's the least demanding.. I think).

Good update, I will dive into it, Copa Truck seems a bit better, I still can't believe they are this understeer to over steer, not the predictable way ETRC is in assetto corsa, but it is still fun as heck

Just had a quick blast and seems a bit of a mixed bag. The V8 supercars now feel amazing, the GT3 cars seem ok and I had a go in the 2002 and it's now an understeering pig.

I would buy the game if was just the V8s as they now feel so good.

Did you delete your tuning setups (C:\Users\*******\Documents\Automobilista 2\savegame\54812787\automobilista 2\tuningsetups) and reset anything else to default?

Hi all it says too delete your save game Automobilisa 2, I cannot find where that file is, can someone help with the location for the save game..... Thanks
FYI, AMS2 Forum has the full update info:
" IMPORTANT: You must delete your Automobilista 2\savegame\[User Profile Number]\automobilista 2\tuningsetups to reset your car setups to their original settings - failure to do so may result in a broken driving experience (it is not necessary to delete your other game settings)."

You can find this file in your folder - Documents\Automobilista2

All the folders and files for your setups, etc. are contained in this folder. Do not confuse them with your actual game files which are in your Program\Steam folder.
