BMW M4 GT3 Coming to rFactor 2

Studio 397 has confirmed yet another new piece of content coming to rFactor 2, the BMW M4 GT3.

The announcements just keep coming for rFactor 2. We’ve already told you about three pieces of content scheduled to be released into the sim next week as DLC: Daytona International Speedway, the Ligier JS P320 LMP3 car, and the new INDYCAR IR-18. And now we know there will be one more piece of content, the BMW M4 GT3.

BMW’s latest entry into the GT3 class, the M4 GT3, is powered by BMW’s M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine, capable of 590 horsepower. It offers slightly more power, improved aerodynamics, and better drivability than its predecessor, the M6 GT3.

The M4 GT3 joins a growing roster of GT3’s on offer in rFactor 2, including cars from Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, Callaway, McLaren, Mercedes, Porsche, Radical and Ferrari. Sim racing’s most popular racing class is well represented in rF2, and the growing selection of official tracks complement these cars well.

RFactor 2 isn’t the first sim to have the M4 GT3 as official content, as iRacing and Assetto Corsa Competizione already welcomed the car to their respective content offerings. Despite mixed opinions on the looks of the M4 GT3, the car remains well used in both of those sims.

With so much high-profile content coming to rFactor 2, which do you want to drive first? Let us know in the comments below.

Well... aside from all the opinions being made, I look forward to finally using the BMW M4 GT3 in RF2. In a game renowned for its physics, and then with the car being available in iRacing and ACC, I'm glad the car's setup can be carried over to more sims now. :)

RF2 still has a long journey ahead to gain back everyone's trust. But there is one thing I did learn; the league racing community in RF2 is one of the best.

S397 did not develop rF2. They tried to make a business out of saving it, by buying it from ISI.
I know. If you'd read until the end of my post you'd have seen I mentioned both ISI and S397, who bought rF2 at a time when Kunos was at the end of AC's dev cylce, and all of what I wrote was already accomplished.

it will be in every modern sim cause BMW themselves are very interesting in racing sims. so im expecting AMS2 and R3E to get it too

Iracing is great for online, R3E for sounds, AC for road car free roaming, ACC for GT3 guys, and AMS2 is great for casual fun. rF2's trademark is the driving feel. I think most people with some common sense will agree on this.
Diversity is great and simracing is a wonderful hobby. I don't care about S397, Kunos or Reiza. Just some companies trying to make money out of our passion.

But there is obviously a simracing Gestapo lurking around here, and rFactor2 is the poor old Jew.

"Why would I even bother with rf2?"
"It's dead."
"rF2 crashed."
"The AI sucks."
"The graphics are bad."
And my own personal favorite:
"The FFB lost its magic when I switched to SimuCube Pro." That guy really made me laugh.

C'mon people, get your act together.

Another GT3 car. OK, but I hope the cockpit looks as realistic as they
did with the Ferrari 488.

Exactly, what you say actually meets what I am arguing. Kunos had already had success with a new product. S397 bought a product that, they had not developed and no longer had the commercial pull of being something new.
Regardless of its brilliant - but brittle backbone - rF2 already had a worn out image.
We - at least who enjoy it - should be glad that rF2 still exists. No one is pointing a gun at people to play it or to buy its DLC.
Heck, my favorite cars are actually mods and rF2 has quality like no other on that department.
Now, what is quality for me? Driving feel and believability.
For others? Fancy interiors...
One of my top 5 cars on rF2 is a veeeeeery old mod which is a rushed conversion from rF1 and on which I can see across the dials on the dash (BMW M1 Procar).
Would I prefer it to have a nicer interior (like for instance the ODS M1 Group 4)? Sure.
Does that really matter to me? Nope as that mod drives 1000x better than the ODS' rendition of the M1 (the cars did not have the same specs, in any case).

I am especially waiting for their new iteration of whole GT3 tires, and it means they will probably need to adjust aero, suspension and of course BOP. It is interesting to wait for this step of evolution of rF2 in hands of S397.

If they start to deliver that in a timely fashion - not so timely anymore, but anyway, they certainly were busy this last year with Nascar disaster - not only for gt3 but the other class of cars with the same broken behavior, then I will moderate myself. Certain things should've be done to the physics engine already, but I' really starting to think this guys can't do it or something and it's how its gonna be. If they can fix and bring cars without the major flaws of the drifting style driving I'll buy from them again.

Until then no. This announcements coming everyday for 4 items of content is kinda cringy, as it could have just been announced all at once. They teased much more by their tone before the hollidays and we aren't getting that much honestly. I don't count the UI - it should've already been fixed a long time ago and not have been so bad and cluncky in the first place. No kudos there as it's no more then a reskin with some better stuff.

Hum, emmotionaly crippled is someone who keeps on "ahah" my comments, because you have a lot to do with your life to spend it here doing only that... I wonder...

Blither on you are so filled with your own self importance you think it was directed at you, and yes people that do these sort of things over and over are emotionally crippled

Why would any of you keep making peoples lives a constant downer ?

Mike Smith, a wonderfully positive content creator, now a staple here at RD, published a piece and asked the question: which of the 3 cars being launched we will try first...
Yet, the reactions immediately came from the Negative Nancys.
Did Mike asked you why you don't boot rF2?
Did Mike asked if you agreed with the DLC policy or prices?
Did Mike asked which bugs bothered you the most or if you were still experiencing bugs?
FFS...
Personally, the car which I will try in the first place is the Ligier. I have been on a "prototype mood" after being on a "open wheeler mood" (Apex Indycar, Lola and Panoz ChampCars, several eras of F1 mods, Tatuus, ...).

Me? Well, I am looking forward to the BMW M4 GT3. And yes, I also quite like the new UI. After years of disappointment as well as frustration, I am now loving RF2.

It is unclear about what they can do about physics in terms of game engine stuff. The AI have had lots to be desired for several years now. People would really love at least some improvements about tires, they are great already, but there are just a couple details that takes few dynamics away from most dynamic simulator. There are some hopes for rain physics simulation development. Perhaps some drivetrain stuff. And perhaps the very least thing that could be done would be proper clutch simulation, so that it really would be needed, and mis-shifting wouldn't be allowed, it is probably most simple ,and yet most depressing lack of rF2 physics to me, thankfully there is little plugin to help, but it is external stuff you have to activate every time.

The certain cars physics isn't really an issue of core physics. And with latest Fpro, BMW M4 PRO car and latest Tattus S397 proved they can actually configure a tire.

A constant downer is what S397 has been keeping RF2 into, but whatever. Keep on fanboying all you want people! Thats your problem and your own joy too. Bad is that it kinda can hurt the other people who actually have some taste and preferences who don't buy into every lillte PR thing and promise of another great year for RF2.
