The Gran Turismo World Series will visit Montreal, Prague, Tokyo and a fourth top-secret venue for the World Finals across 2024 to determine the world’s quickest GT7 drivers.
The pinnacle competition for Gran Turismo 7 drivers, the World Series, has confirmed its plans for the year ahead – and it will see a return to an in-person event emphasis.
The championship, which is open to all with a copy of the game on either PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, is split into two titles – the Nations Cup and the Manufacturers Cup.
Both have been running since 2018, although the Covid pandemic witnessed them go fully remote. Bit by bit, further LAN gatherings have re-appeared – in 2023, events were held in Amsterdam and Barcelona.
But in 2024, the series will visit Montreal, Prague, Tokyo and an undisclosed location for the title-deciding World Finals.
After six remove rounds for each of the two competitions, the world’s best drivers then progress into the global events, traversing the world to compete in person.
These are the four ‘main’ rounds, with results from each paying points that count towards the final standings.
Therefore, it is often seen as the unofficial crowning of the world’s best Gran Turismo driver each year.
Last year it was a team-based format, with three drivers per entry and driver-swapping races. This season this reverts to the original format, once again crowning a single driver, while the Manufacturers Cup sticks with team collaboration.
Speaking of which, for this competition that showcases car companies, each manufacturer will be represented by its highest-ranked driver from the region where the live event is hosted (Americas, Europe and Asia). Then, for the World Finals, those three drivers will compete together as a team.
The World Finals have historically been a place to unveil or announce new content for Gran Turismo 7, with the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo showcased in Monaco 2022 and both the Bulgari and Genesis VGTs at Barcelona 2023.
Last time out, Spain won the Nations Cup in front of a home crowd, while Nissan won the Manufacturers Cup.

2024 Season Starts This Month
