A new update will release for EA Sports WRC alongside the next season of the Rally Pass. Among the long list of patch notes features a number of performance fixes. Still tackling the Unreal Engine’s Pre-Shader Compilation intricacies, players will hope this latest update will finally put an end to stuttering in-game.

In addition to the supposed boost in performance, the update includes fixes to many glitches. However, whilst dropping infinite Shakedown attempts, Club events will seemingly still feature damage repair glitches.

Elsewhere, VR support is still set for implementation at a later date. EA Sports confirms that it will communicate more on the feature once release approaches. Here is everything you need to know about the Season 3 Rally Pass and the rest of the update.

Rally Pass Season 3

As part of Update 1.5.1 to the most recent rally title comes the third season of its Rally Pass. Including new Moments challenges and several new rewards to claim via XP, those that enjoy such challenges are sure to enjoy the new release.

The Season 3 Rally Pass rewards include five new liveries, one of which coming with the EA Play subscription. Whilst the update launches on 8 February, Season 3 begins on 13 February.

As aforementioned, it is clear from the patch notes that the EA Sports WRC team is working hard to fix performance issues in-game. A number of PSO support for compute shader improvements aim to tackle the stuttering from which many players suffer.

Whilst not adding Virtual Reality to the game, Andreas Mikkelsen fans will now get to don the Norwegian’s colours. His Skoda Fabia Rally 2 livery is now available in-game. Speaking of liveries, it is clear that, at least throughout Season 3, the 2024 WRC liveries will not join EA Sports WRC.

With the Central European Rally still relatively new in the game, it features heavily on the patch notes. From graphical adjustments to glitch fixes and performance improvements, the newest location should be more fun to race.

RBR Vanilla is still the one and only true Rally Sim !

The rest is merely good looking and sounding arcade games in one form or another !
I will not argue with the status of RBR as king of rally simulation.

But as rally is not my no. 1 priority i first take a modern simcade before i go back to a 20 years old sim.
But we are lucky to decide  for ourselfs.

i didn´t notice any difference...means it still eats a way more performance as ACC with just one car on the road. I mean its ridiculous, what I see and how hungry it is.
I remember ACC was fixed about the performance 2 years after the release, so for EA WRC, we can wait ;)

same I'm not using 4090 and simucube 2 for an outdated playstation 2 game....

ea where is the hardcore mode?mode with realistic car physics and car damage. and love of god make the pushes and small trees to disintegrate. 20 years ago fired up first time richard burns rally and its still the best rally game physics wise!!!!!how this can be?

Some of that will be performance issues too. No way this game could run smoothly if the whole forest was there.

It's a simcade title, it always will be. That's not EA, that's all of codemasters titles. The physics will improve incrementally but it will never be a full SIM

dont understand why use unreal engine in driving games...acc is not that good. pretty boring and physics are unreal physics.

wtf. who said that the whole forest has to be there!? are you stupid. the fact that in Finland there is no lawn next to the road, but first there is a ditch and then the forest does not mean that the whole forest has to be simulated in the game.. you are a strange person!

rwd cars are...well ea thinks rwd car behaves like that..LOL
This issue seems fixed already. Did a Rally with the Lancia 037 this week and felt great despite basically using default setup. Before I did a lot to make this car behave normal. The default differential-settings have certainly changed significantly, which was the main reason for the snap-oversteers.

ahahaha, you are boring with Richard burn rally, Dirt rally 2.0 is better ;), I'm sure you can't finish a stage in dirt rally 2.0 with a H shifter, 900°, and group B car ;).
You want hardcore mode, but I'm sure you use 450° for a group B car like a newbie ;)

I finally bought EA WRC and I think I am going to refund. Don't get me wrong, I really like the presentation, the driving experience is also surprisingly good, graphics at 1080p need some supersampling, but that's okay (DR 2.0 needs it as well to be sharp), no stuttering. However, I get this bug that towards the end of the stage performance tanks. On YouTube JesseDeya has good demonstrations of it (search wrc end of stage bug). Basically after some part of the track is passed framerate is cut in half. Strange, this one.

No enough vram? Codemasters have issue with CPU usage too.

Just tested it while looking closely at the metrics and for me the GPU frequency identically drops, and going "back" before that "magical line" returns the performance.

Interesting. Tried forcing DX11, it was lower performance all the way. Tried a DX12 to Vulkan wrapper, didn't work. Then tried a DX11 to Vulkan wrapper after forcing DX11 and somehow the frequency and FPS didn't drop at the end, performance was fine but lots of stutter. I am getting close to the 2hr window so I might do some quick experiments still.

few best stage times on ps4 for dr2.0 and ps5 on ea wrc.... how many fastest stage times you have?

and you use bonnet view. what a joke :)
What? That is not my video, and who the hell cares who uses what view... I drive cockpit only if it makes you feel better.

Here are 2 screenshots, 1st with normal performance throughout the stage, then a couple meters past with degraded performance. If I reverse back, performance jumps back again. Applies to the end of every stage I tried.
