Gran Turismo 7 Will Feature Most Extensive Tuning Mode in Series

Polyphony Digital has showcased the improved tuning mode in the upcoming Gran Turismo 7 game in a new video.

Tuning cars can be a somewhat controversial aspect of racing games. On one side of the argument, improving the speed and handling of a car using new parts is a fun way to diversify how a car can be used, and on the other side, it breaks from realism and allows players to do things with certain cars that couldn't be achieved in real life.

But Sony and Polyphony Digital have decided to lean more toward the former position and allow players more tuning options than any previous Gran Turismo title. A new video shared on the GT YouTube channel shows creator Kazunori Yamauchi sharing information on the importance of tuning cars and how players can expect GT7 to embrace this mentality.

Calling back to titles prior to Gran Turismo Sport, the tuning in GT7 will allow for various grades of of parts like ECU, intake, exhaust, brakes, engine, weight reduction, suspension, tires and more to be installed.

Gran Turismo 7 has a scheduled release date of March 4th, 2022. Be sure to check back to RD often as more pre-release details are shared from Sony and PD.

So they're trying to close the gap to all other games.... We will see

What really annoys me about these games is all the back slapping it gives the player. Every time you do anything it's telling the player how awesome they are and giving out points for doing ordinary stuff. I just can't stomach that fake happy shyte.

yeah right because professional racing teams and professional racing drivers train in Grand Turismo hahahaha

Yes, please, tell me in what game you can buy for PC or any platform do teams and professional racing drivers practice, and i dont mean the stuff for laughs they do on twitch, i mean the things teams have in their HQ. I will be waiting.

Is the G25 even compatible with the PS1? Wasn't the G25 released nine years after Gran Turismo?
Maybe i bought those after the ps1? But ive had all the ps consoles and just found my g25 and g27 when i was cleaning the other day. So maybe i started on a controller? lol Either way GT got me started.

RFPro/RF1 and AC. IER,URD and RSS have worked with IRL teams making mods for teams to use to train and get setup data etc, Plus other modding groups who don't do public work and just work for teams and manufactures.

rf2, sometimes heavily modified versions of rf1, iracing, someone also ams1 with custom physics. the more you know.

Interesting news, I'm also hoping this and Forza Motorsport Reboot will be both good driving games of 2022!

I reckon Assetto Corsa 2 will offer a more realistic driving experience than GT7 and Forza Motorsport Reboot combined.

iracing? teams use iracing in their simulators?... i dont know if you are even serious.

Teams use proper tools like rfPro where they can input and link their stuff. They dont use toys.

Mate, do NOT test Forza Horizon then, LOL! Super annoyed about all the talking and i keep mashing the gamepad even though i know i cant skip anything (wheel doesnt work either. No auto-center forces to bring wheel back to center when accelerating which makes wheels useless...), but the talking... Extremely annoying and soy. The driving is quite fun though in smaller doses and gamepad is really well implemented with the cars feeling heavy and rather realistic for what it is, but the talking by some snotty kids telling you if you practise you could become something, "rookie". :D

Hey some people dig it and it's nice we have a bit of everything. :)

To be completely fair, nobody actually uses rF/ACPro physics modeling in their sims from what I know. Those exist so that clients can drop in their physics model into a ready graphics, UI and sound package.

Although Cphys in CSP for AC is closer to the actual sim model than the other consumer stuff, it's not missing that much from the one used professionally, compared to ISImotor or AC standard physics that have nothing whatsoever to do with professional models.

AC with Cphys is the closest thing to an actual sim you can just go and download, although you still need the car model. P13C is probably the best sim car released to the public in general, so I guess it gets narrowed down to one software and one model that's even a bit like professional ones. :p

Never understood why people have the urge to compare Gran Turismo with simulators like rf2, iracing or ac. Because it says "The real driving simulator"? does red bull give you wings? Switching from one target audience to another wouldnt be the wisest move *cough* *cough* Project cars 3.

Well, the internet users with a 12-year-old mindset are can be found across the internet as they love to troll by comparing an apple to whichever fruit so we just avoid them.

The best comparison for the Gran Turismo series is always the Forza Motorsport series because they're both simcades.

While the best comparison for the Forza Horizon series is the Test Drive Unlimited series because they're both open-world arcade driving games.

Stop bullshitting, after forza 7 Which i even played on tripples, the GT sport was miles ahead of it. With controller GT sport is easy much better than forza 7. There is no even a discussion hereIt'
It's just an opinion. No need to blow your top over it. I played both with Logitech wheels not controllers btw.

Sadly that's the modern endorphin pumping way to keep the ADD audience playing

I work for some of the leading F2-F3-F4-DTM-LMP-GT-PorschSuperCup teams. No-one uses rF-Pro.
rF2 - rF1 - some AC - that's it.

F1 teams use rFpro, hooked up with huge servers.
rF pro is mostly used in the automotive industry.
Mostly to drive virtual versions before production starts.

Most racing below F1 don't have the budgets to do simulations on that level.

So the teams just hire some guy to make a model of the car on the consumer sim's physics? No changes whatsoever?

Gt5 and 6 on PS3 were awesome fun, sadly I'm not getting a Playstation 5 but maybe I'll get GT7 for my son for Christmas one year, I'll try convincing a 30 year old who earns more money than I, that he will love GT7 ;)
Failing that I'll get it, and offer to look after his apartment when he goes away on holiday haha.
GT7 a must buy!

You basically proved my point. Who wants something serious, rfPro.

The rest, use the best toys they can get, that you named yourself, and i dare to say is for sure mainly to just get a basic understanding of driving around the track and setup.
