OT Mods: Aussie Supercars Liveries Hit Assetto Corsa Competizione

Across sim racing, there are very few Australian Supercars available in first party content, and even fewer representations of the latest Gen 3 cars. But fear not, here is a collection of livery mods for Assetto Corsa Competizione bringing the V8 rumble to life.

Bathurst, Surfers Paradise, Sandown and Melbourne. The Australian Supercars series may not be the most popular outside of Down Under - likely due to late-night start times. But visiting some of the most recognisable and unforgiving circuits in motorsport, it is no doubt one of the most thrilling.

Unfortunately however, being a national series with very few fans outside of its domestic market, rarely does the sim racing world see official first-party content from the series. In fact, the most recent models to join the virtual sphere feature in iRacing, portraying Gen 2 cars racing up until 2022. But in recent years, more representative, mechanical Gen 3 models have hit the pack providing even more spectacular wheel-banging.

So how does one get their fix for modern Supercars in sim racing? Well, there are certainly a number of third party creations out there for various games. But following the release of Assetto Corsa Competizione's Ford Mustang GT3, the OverTake community's creative juices have flowed tremendously. Here are some liveries you can run for an Aussie V8 experience - at least approximately.

Ford Mustang GT3 in Aussie Colours

Not three weeks after the all-new Ford Mustang's arrival to ACC, the list of liveries for the model seemingly incapable of keeping its boot lid feels interminable. From recreations of those teams running the new car in this year's GT3 championships around the world to brilliant personal colour schemes, there is plenty to choose from.

But one user, @daveuk321 clearly has a love for the Aussie racing world. Getting stuck into Photoshop, the livery designer with over 100 creations under their belt has given us a number of Australian Supercar liveries for the Pony.

For this year's season, the Ford Mustang gets a number of iconic sponsors in the real life series, many of which this creative painter has replicated in ACC. These include the Castrol and Monster adorned cars of Tickford Racing's Thomas Randle and Cam Waters respectively. Penrite colours of the Grove Racing cars also get their ACC replicas as do Dick Johnson Racing with their recognisable Shell V-Power colours.

But @daveuk321 has not stuck with the traditional Ford teams. The iconic Red Bull Ampol livery notably seen on Shane Van Gisbergen's Chevrolet Camaro has been transplanted to the 'Stang. Valvoline, a typically GM-affiliated sponsor, also gets the Ford treatment despite not presently featuring on the grid.

A Chevy Camaro Pack

The collection of Ford Mustang Supercar liveries is not the first to grace the ACC Downloads list however. Last Summer, @MRaddenbury, part of the Positive Perception team, put together a similar pack for the Chevrolet Camaro GT4.

With five different updates being made to the mod throughout the second half of 2023, the livery pack is clearly a labour of love. It in fact features a whopping 21 liveries encompassing both Camaro and Mustang teams from last season.

All we need now is for Kunos to add a GT4 variant of its newest release allowing the two cars to race alongside one another. That is as well as the ability to run a grid of custom liveries offline. Just imagine sending a grid of V8 powered brutes over Skyline in Assetto Corsa Competizione.

There is a gen 3 V8 supercars mod for Assetto Corsa, with both the mustang and camaro, unfortunately only a paid mod on Patreon - so will never get any credit on overtake.gg - BUT skins for that mod are posted here at overtake.gg. It is actually very good, and more representative than the gt3 mustang in ACC, lap times match real life. look up BCRC mods Gen 3 supercars if you are interested. 2023 mod is released, and 2024 mod is nearly out.

As soon as I saw the Mustang coming to ACC, I was hoping we'd see Ford Supercars liveries. Very excited! :) Even if a GT3 is very far away from how a V8 Supercar handles. So many great-looking liveries in Supercars.

FYI, about the BCRC AC Gen 3 Supercars mod - I've heard rumours that the models are ripped and that the physics are highly unrealistic. I hope I'm wrong, but watch out - your mileage may vary.

From what I've heard from those in the know, we've yet to see a highly realistic publicly available Gen 3 mod for any sim. Although some of the real-life V8 drivers have amazing private sims - for example, check out this Thomas Randle video!

And we even did a series with the Chevy pack we made! Now that was some brutal close racing!

Mixed in some double pitstops during 60mins racing as well as some super sprints... Plus, top 10 shootouts...

Maybe, we need to do a 2024 pack too?

About time this series had its own stand alone sim/game, think the last was code masters back in the day.

I don't know if my memory is playing tricks on me, but I seem to remember having the Codies toca game with an Australian version V8's and German DTM's on my chipped PlayStation.
I'm sure if I've imagined it someone will correct me.

Dont spread such rumours, that is very bad form. Also try it for yourself to judge it. For me it drives great, even though far from the highest quality, it is definitely the best gen3 experience on any sim.

Can confirm they are.
Prove it. ive seen the evidence that it isnt. It is just a bit of stupid jealous fans making up lies because they dont want to pay for it, and they in turn stole this mod and charged double for it.

They just repackaged the Toca game for different regions, Changed the name , the cover, and how the game launched.

I considered it a cheap and pointless exercise, All marketing, no substance.

I would go back to V8 Challenge as the last standalone game, But even that was a reskin of a Swedish touring car game, They swapped out the car models and substituted some but not all of the tracks for local ones. Low rent effort.

That said, as much as I feel all current efforts fall well short of an Aussie V8 racing experience, I can't see a dedicated title succeeding on its own merits. This would be mainly due to a lack of a worthwhile engine that could be adopted.

The choices are legacy engines that are no longer fit for purpose, or new engines that are not fit for purpose.

About time someone invested a few million into Last garage and something came on the market that was designed to suit from the get go.
