TT Isle of Man - Ride on The Edge 3 Reveals First Gameplay

One of the best-ever motorcycle racing games is coming back soon! Check out this first bit of gameplay from the new Isle of Man TT game.

In this gameplay video, the first part of the Snaefell Mountain Course on the Isle of Man can be witnessed ridden on a high-end superbike. The YouTube description mentions that "the slightest mistake can be fatal" on the Isle of Man.

While that is true, the safety of digital content protects our fragile human bodies. Therefore, you will be able to be safe while riding through the mountains.

While previous entries into the TT Isle of Man gaming franchise were developed by KT Racing, who also developed the WRC games until Generations, this new game is being developed by RaceWard Studio. You might know that developer from RiMS Racing, the previous of its titles, released in August 2021.

We'll have to see whether this change in the development team affects the "Very Positive" reviews the previous titles have garnered on Steam. Let's assume the best-case scenario, however, and hope to see those rating change to "Overwhelmingly Positive".

TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 will be available May 2023 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.

Are you looking forward to this title? Let us know in the comments down below!

It's like F1 driver going to WRC. Different sport.
Nope. F1 and WRC are completely different. TT and MotoGP or SBK are the same sport. Just on different kind of tracks. Bigger, bumpy and for the most part full throttle, but the same "track" every year.
It's a fact that GP riders excel at memorizing tracks. Even the tiniest bumps or even the feel and texture of the tarmac on every corner. So, my guess is that TT wouldn't be much of challenge for them.

Wow this runs at a low resolution, major shimmering going on and terrible level of detail pop-in. I'm wondering if that's the console release. Won't be playable for me like that for sure.
Kyloton engine games tend to be like that...same with the WRC games. I find it very irritating too and affects my enjoyment of their titles.

I have both TT games. I spent more time fiddling graphics and driver settings than actual game itself. Yeah sense of speed is good and all but it doesn't matter when it stutters like hell... Milestone's Ride 3 on the other hand runs butter smooth. So i'll try the third one out of curiosity, if it will stutter then it will be an instant refund for me...

Even tho what happened with KT and those first two games. I shouldnt be, but still i am interested about this, because of the TT and other developer. Hoping fingers crossed that this is something i was waiting years a go after they announced the first game. At this point, i see improvements, but also feels a lot the same. I have to see quite much more info, if im gonna pay for this, for the third time... :coffee:

1st point that should be noted: Rims racing sucked. They spouted on about realistic physics, but the bikes rotated around the centre of mass. So going around a corner the tyres miraculously went 60cm over. It's just a basic core element that has to be called out.

Now rewatch this video and watch the tyres moving all over the place.

If this was a CAR sim it would be slated!!!! ACC with tyres that just move over 1 metre because there's a corner? Yeaah, but really does the actual point of contact with the road actually matter? I mean does it? OOOOOH!!! Look at the shiny thing!

I believe it's caused by the way the chase cam works. Watch this and tell me it doesn't look exactly the same as this and Milestone's games.

GPBikes doesn't look like this because the camera is completely different. It's fixed on the rider instead of the bike.

Wait? There was a 2? Was it good? Improved over 1?

One thing that was irritating in 1 was the slow lean left right. You can do it faster in real life.

I have both previous games...

The first iteration was okay for their first attempt; apart from crashing for no reason whatsoever at times; the bike would just slide out when going straight???

The second one, albeit much better feeling than the first, which you'd expect. However, it still at times suffered from making you crash sporadically. I know the track like the back of my hand and have even been there irl twice - But playing the game and knowing the track like i do and easily be able to complete laps without issue (sometimes), it still suffered from the crashing bike for no reason...

I'd be going through Appledean or Kirk Michael for instance, the bike when leaning it over would very weirdly just over turn if you will; like as though my controller deadzone 'flicked' that way...it's very strange when it happens and obviously 'can' make you crash while not you're fault!.

And yes, i've tried it with 3 controllers (all DS4 controllers), every one did the same thing...even a new one (so nothing to do with setup).

Other than that issue, when working right the game for me was enjoyable apart from the A.I. being far to stupid and slow and no multiplayer people to race against.
It's a somewhat niche interest tbh and that is the problem - It doesn't have interest like MotoGP or Superbike has (game wise i mean).

I'll more than likely purchase it as i enjoy the games but, if it suffers from the turning glitch i'll probably be uninstalling it.

We'll have to see. I haven't got RIMS so i can't comment on that but, i'd be happy if the game allowed you to do a lap/race without interfering with your lap/race by the stupid turn glitch.

tbf some F1 drivers have done rallying, and there's motoGP drivers that have done motocross, but ... how do I put this?

Isle of Man is to MotoGP and MotoX what Russian Roulette is to bi-athlons and archery. Someone is going to die, you just hope it isn't going to be you.

For those of you who own rF2 there's a conversion (authorised by Jim Pearson) from his full GPL IOM, well worth seeking out.
Details here.
It's absolutely fantastic btw. One of five mod tracks I always download if I install rF2. Great fun with small historic touring cars.

I know, I remember arguing at the time that it deserved an article as the first time Jim Pearson had ever allowed a conversion and what a great job they'd done.
