After a dominant performance by James Baldwin at Paul Ricard, the 2022 Alpine Esports Series heads to Germany this Thursday. In this last double header of the series though, nothing is decided yet. The live stream starts at 8.30 pm CEST on June 22nd.

Standings & Scoring

Leading the championship by 24 points over their next rival, Baldwin (64 points) may not yet rest on his laurels. Fellow countrymen Luke Whitehead (40 pts) and George Boothby (39 pts), as well as Marko Pejic (37 pts), are still in contention for an upset.

Like in the last 2 rounds, the 25-minute feature race will be prefaced by a 15-minute sprint race. The latter gives points to the top 8 while the winner will be able to snatch 10 points. In the longer race, the top 10 will receive points while the winner can gain 25.

Meaning if Baldwin manages to win the Sprint race, the championship will be decided.

Next Stop: Nürburgring

Starting the lap on the start-finish straight, you brake hard for T1 and instantly get into the technical section of the track: the Mercedes-Arena. Exiting onto the short RTL straight, you get ready for a left-right S. Exiting the right-hander off the Ford-Kurve a short and bent straight awaits before the hairpin. A late apex gets you up to speed for the almost-flat-out Michael-Schumacher-S. Two 90° corners lead you up to the back straight with a kink, the ADVAN-Bogen. Hard braking into the fast NGK-Schikane leads you to the last hairpin T15 and back onto the start-finish straight.

What Action Awaits Us?

The tables are set for a grand spectacle. Do you think James Baldwin, titled World's Fastest Gamer, can clinch the championship to add to his accolades? Or will another contender rise to the occasion on this crucial date?

The live stream for this event can be watched on Alpine's YouTube and Twitch channels and will also be viewable this Thursday here on RaceDepartment. Special guests for the final are AnaOnAir and GB68.

thought he was in Spa doing test sessions for the 24Hour?... even if he has managed to get back in time, i doubt he has had as much practice as he would have wanted

I would like to suggest something. As someone who likes sports, I think my interest in e-sports competitions would grow if I had the option to keep track of standings and upcoming events. Like behind a dedicated menu on RD (or any other place for that matter) where I can browse for info on the (give or take) five most interesting e-sports competitions. Just like motorsport.com does with real life racing.
I know you'll need data for it and developing/maintaining such a solution takes time, effort and costs. But I think it could be an interesting innovation. I would appreciate such a service.

https://beta.simracing.gp/championships/a1C1xKyIzsyoP3Pe2TYyW#standings there you go :) A fully dedicated platform at your service, but still in beta.

In a few years from now for sure such data will be available here on RD as well as like yourself I am a geek for stats myself and I can browse those for hours and hours.

Thanks for your feedback

Unless he no shows or gets taken out, there's no scenario in which Baldwin loses the title. But he won't feel like a winner given that crytpo has just crashed.

I still don’t know why they’re paying in Alpine Fan Token. It’s almost as bad as paying in exposure…
