2016 24 Hours of Le Mans: 7 Entries Disqualified from Qualifying

Just hours before the 84th 24 Hours of Le Mans gets underway 7 entries to the famous have had their qualifying results rescinded on account of their failure to with the qualification rules during the three qualifying sessions.

With teams required to a minimum number of night time laps per driver, as well as reaching a minimum qualifying time in compliance of the rules the following teams will start the race from grid positions 54th to 60th:

55. LMP2 - #27 SMP Racing (Minassian, Mediani, Aleshin)
56. LMP2 - #28 Pegasus Racing (Taittinger, Striebig, Roussel)
57. LMP2 - #30 Extreme Speed Motorsport (Sharp, Brown, Van Overbeek)
58. LMP2 - #22 SO24 (Capillaire, Maris, Coleman)
59. LMP2 - #40 Krohn Racing (Krohn, Jönsson, Barbosa)
60. GTE Pro - #63 Corvette Racing (Magnussen, Garcia, Taylor)

Meanwhile, in the final warmup session it was Audi who topped the time sheets for LMP1 ahead of the #6 Toyota and the pole sitting #2 Porsche. In LMP2 both the #23 Panis Barthez entry and the #35 Baxi DC Racing Alpine car brought out the red flags through separate incidents at the Porsche Curves and Indianapolis respectively. Both teams will start the race however. Time wise, it was the #26 G-Drive who was quickest.

In the GT classes the overnight adjustments to the BoP seemed to have relatively little effect with Ford still the quickest Pro car with Aston Martin in second, 1.4 seconds off the pace.

Finally in GTE Am the #88 Abu Dhabi-Proton Porsche was the pace setter.
