A little confused

If I wanted to get everything AMS2 has to offer up to now, do I need to buy the base game and the Season Pass 2020-2022? Or does the season pass include the base game?

My google searches seem to indicate the base game is included, but Steam's site says you need the base game in order for the season pass to work.

yes, it's not like an MMO where stuff comes and goes, you are just paying for all the content that will be (or was) released in the timeframe.
