AC RC issue: Own server, cars don't show

Finally figured out how to forward my ports correctly and got a server going so a friend and I could race alone. We both joined the server and we could see the other person on the chat screen, but when we enter an 'active' session his car was no where to be found. He told me he was driving fine, but he also could not see my car.

Has anyone ever had this issue. I've searched, but cannot find a solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

TLDR:Made a server and can join, but no one sees other cars on track.
