AC server on a separate PC

It's not that hard, i'll (try to) help you.
First of all you need to have assetto corsa installed on your spare machine, and if you want to run a server with mods install them to.
then you need to port forward and that is the hardest part (trust me not that hard but it is the hardest part), so open cmd that is standard installed on your pc and type
and press enter btw do this on your spare pc. then you should see a line called default gateway and copy the bottom line of the 2 lines next to it so the one with only the nubers and points. then go to any browser and paste that line this should take you to your routers website. Login and search for port forwarding sometimes it's in the open and other times it's under security settings. once you found the settings add a line with your IP that is in cmd the line after IPv4 Address and port range or starting point and ending point with 9600 like in the image I added, the Protocol should be both UDP and TCP. once you have done that do the same but not with 9600 but with 8081. once you have done all this you can close your browser and close cmd then go to your install folder of assetto corsa and open the folder server and start the program acServerManager.exe you want to leaev the advanced settings but you can change evrything else how you want it.
And that should do it but make sure that you dont change wifi on you spare pc becuase then your IP will be different and it won't work.
Now you can start your server enjoy

PS
sorry about my English I am a Dutch teenage boy so my English aint the best.

Thanks, the IP side and port forwarding I am very comfortable with as I already have other servers running. For Assetto do I need to purchase the game a second time would be my next question or do I just install it twice through Steam and use the server portion?

I just installed it another tome and only use the server part of the installation so I did not buy it another time

You need neither another copy of AC nor another steam ID. The acserver is a standalone-software, which only needs the configuration files and some data from the content folder.

Just copy the content of the folder "server" within your root folder of AC to this other machine.

Basicly a AC-server and likewise an ACC-Server runs on any potatoe. :)

I've rented a VPS (runing Ubuntu) with only two cores and 8MB RAM. We had multiplayer races with 50 users and all was running smooth. A fast connection is more important.

SOL and CSP stuff is all done locally at the clients as all the graphics, so no extra stress for the server.

interesting, thanks, good to know, might try setting up one just out of curiosity, was expecting it needs much more power than this. :}

Morning.
I know that 2 years is quite a large time period, but I was also wondering about the same topic as the creator of the thread. I tried copying the "server" folder, although that attempt failed. Whenever I try to open "acServerManager.exe" it results in an error "Can't find "AssettoCorsa.exe" in the parent folder!" Is there anything I am doing wrong?

You need the AC dedicated server from the tools section of steam:

" Go to ''Library'' then above the search bar for searching your games their will be a drop down menu. If you don't have the ''tools'' tab selected, the tab will say ''games''. Click on it and you will see the tools tab."

Or you could copy the full AC installation to use the normal server manager.
If you don't have the space, you don't need the kn5 files in the content folder, which are the big data files for the content :)

Oh understood. As you understood I tried to do it with the server folder. I will try whatever you described.
Thank you very much.

"acServerManager.exe" requires "AssettoCorsa.exe", "acServer.exe" doesnt. And "acServer.exe" is the server software!

Usually you create all your server configuration at a fully installed Assetto Corsa and just upload the required configuration files (server_cfg.ini & entry_list.ini) to the client running the server.

Only if you want to create those config files at the client running the server, there has to be a fully installed Assetto Corsa available. Well, bascily. There are other ways too, but this would start to get a lill bit complicated. ;)
