AC servers for freeroam?

Hi,

Much as I love Shutoko, the choice of online freeroam servers and most of the larger tracks I spend time on (e.g. Fat Alfie's) is pretty limited. Occasionally a Union isle, or LAC will pop up, but not often and generally the driving standards are quite poor.

Personally, I have more fun from a spirited freeroam with traffic and a single equally experienced challenger than circuit racing. I feel racing can often get a bit too serious, and frustrating when you get severely punished for the smallest mistake.

Where is a good place to join servers with 'different' courses attracting a reasonable level of driver. Am I looking in the wrong place?

I'd be more than happy to spend a little money on using a service (with the emphasis on 'little') if anyone can recommend one that would be good for AC in the UK.

Thanks

Cruisin USA, Union Island server is pretty good

Thanks for the suggestion. Over 6 months after posting, the situation is the same.

I am actually based in UK so latency might be an issue - but Ill give it a try (maybe even see you there?)

I play from Ireland so "same side of the pond" but have no problems with pings on US servers or most of servers in that matter. As for "quality of play" not sure what you are looking for, I have no issues with most of available LAC servers and people playing on them, yes 75% of users will scramble around like swarm of bees going around in circles :) but once you find and drive along with that 25% you may find yourself with quality time and like-minded people. Union Island as mentioned, aswell or PCH servers. I also tend to prefer freeroam but the "shutoko" example you used is probably the worst of them all as for quality of driving and messing around, atleast from my experience. It reminded me of certain Highlands Long server where people tend to join in just to mess about and deliberately crash you etc. There was some fun in that aswell, though, felt like trying to avoind bullets all the time :D

You own the wrong game, you need Test Drive Unlimited.

Thanks for the Union and PCH suggestions.

After specifically searching for them I realised many of them were filtered out in CM as they had missing DLC. I purchased the ultimate key suggested in another post, unlocked all the DLC and suddenly had access to the servers.

Had a couple of decent spars on them (and the newly unlocked ring for that matter), and have satiated my need to mix it up

Still keen to have some decent human challengers on fat Alfie tracks and the like, so any more alternative track server suggestions or links much appreciated.

Cheers

Found this post after recently reaffixing my SimRacing Trousers after a bit of a hiatus and actually find myself in a very similar position. Agree completely on Shitoko's "fun, but questionable quality" and honestly I do find it a bit samey anyway. (Being totally honest, my driving quality is far from stellar, but it's interesting that I seem to do well on Shutoko just by not ploughing in to things!)

Found a few LAC, PCH and Union groups, but these seem to be fairly sparsely populated during weekday evenings GMT - but this is likely better at weekends. I have been enjoying trackday servers and whilst most of these are based around the Nordschleife, there have been a few on other tracks. I'd be interested to know which servers that you've found (forum etiquette permitting)

One point worthy of note, I do have a dedicated AC server (and barely used Discord) tucked away so with sufficient interest I could definitely spin it up, get it updated and maybe even organise a regular group. Open to track choice and car type including the Fat Alfie ones you mention. Personal preference is 60s-70s era touring cars and open wheelers, but I'm happy to mix that up in whatever way you or others would like.
