AI Ballast for F1

So basically i was adding ballast and restrictor to try and simulate real life f1 car performances but for whatever reason its not making any difference to the AI. Their performances are all over the place. Do you guys have any tips to make this work?
 
Your best bet to vary performance for F1 is via AI ranges rather then ballast/restrictor. See the attached screenshot. These settings give me about a 2-2.5 second spread over a field of 20 cars.

I see but I'm trying to give each car particular performance figures to make it realistic(for example merc and red bull at the front, Haas and Williams at the back). Any idea how I can do that?
