Following the shock announcement that 2005 and 2006 Formula One World Champion and current McLaren driver Fernando Alonso will be racing in this season's Indy 500 IndyCar race, you can catch all the action from today's rookie test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway as Alonso gets behind the wheel of his McLaren Andretti Autosport for the very first time in anger.

Indy 500 Rookie Test:

Alonso will be looking to become the first active Formula One driver to secure victory in this famous race since Graham Hill last achieved the feat back in 1966.

It's a little known fact that the birds are part of the rookie test. Swerve to miss them and you fail the rookie test. Hit one, you pass. Hit both at the same time and you are Grand Marshall and guaranteed a grid spot.
