Check out the latest previews from the Washington State DLC - logging cliff roads!

Everyone likes a tortuous and twisting cliff side road when hauling heavy cargo from place to place, don't they? Well, if that sounds like fun to you, then these previews of some of the new road structures included in the upcoming Washington State DLC will probably be rather pleasing to your eye... they certainly look the part as far as I'm concerned anyway..

Anyone who is familiar with the Washington State area will know that the logging industry is an important aspect of the everyday working life, and these are an aspect of the Washington State DLC that SCS Software have been keen to recreate within the upcoming content. As such, the new build of the sim will feature much work replicating this type of cargo, and of course it will have some difficult roads in which to traverse in order to pick up and deliver that all important timber!

Also noteworthy, the upcoming DLC will make use of new tools and workflows for scene creation, the results of which offer some impressive landscapes - as can be seen in the screenshots featured within this article.

Our map designers also have a new tool and process for scenic background creations available. This will help us create an even more immersive environment in our games. We used them extensively while creating this hill-side road. You can see the results in this fantastic panoramic screenshot gallery.

Look at this pictures, the distant view is so much improved that i first
thought it must be an illusion. Stunning if you consider the aged
graphics engine. I am so ready for Washington i can tell you!

Looking at the blog they have new tech for that, hopefully it'll reduce the "pop in" of distant features as well as looking awesome!

Maybe these improvements have also something to do with the upcoming
upgrade to DX11 but anyway it looks fantastic. The pop in for sure can be
an immersion killer for some but while driving in Oregon it didn't bother me.
California might be the place where it is most apparent.

Scariest thing about log hauling in the mountains is when your just getting loaded on the landing and it starts raining...Picking the right gear becomes the most important objective in life and ensuring you don't have the jake brakes on. (along with fine tuning your trailer brakes with the slack adjusters and feathering that trailer brake when needed)
