Anyone ever use the leather steering wheel wrap you stitch on yourself?

I am thinking about getting a leather steering wheel wrap for my TMX Pro wheel as it really only has rubberized grip on the left and right sides while the top and bottom are a smooth plastic. My idea is to tightly stitch the leather around the plastic parts and the rubber sides if I can pull it off. Maybe put a thin foam insert under the leather. Hoping to improve grip while at the same time giving the wheel a bit more thickness for my larger hands. Edit: Also looking at good bicycle handlebar wrap as a potential option. I used to wrap bars very nicely so it could work too perhaps.

Anyone given this a try before? Thoughts on the idea welcome?

I just pulled the trigger on a 4Play aluminum rig ( The Wide Comp model ) and a Summit seat. So I can't wait to get those in and get my rig built! No more 4 folding leg flimsy card table with a campsite seat and sliding pedals!!! YEAHHH..

I just know once I get that all setup I'll look at my TMX Pro and T3PA pedal set with disgust and be upgrading. I feel like I am already hooked and I have just started this journey!!

Yes, I wrapped once a T300rs wheel, but was a bit tricky. Stitching is fairly easy, the difficult part is opening holes where needed. So if you buy a special leather tool (not expensive) it should really help you out. I also was thinking about extra foam, but in the end it's not needed. It was absolutely perfect just with the leather itself.

Please let us know which route you go with this--stitched leather or cycle wrap.
