Anyone use a remote power switch for their Power Supply?

Looking to simplify the amount of steps needed to turn everything on manually in my rig, was looking to get this to possibly help.

Just not sure if plugging something like this into my power supply strip for easy one-button access to all my rig components is healthy or if I should stick to manually going through the motions of shutting all on/off each session?

Just looking for a solution and this looks promising?

I`ve simplified it as much as i can…
Pc is connected directly, so are monitors as they are auto on/off.
Motion, simucube, belt tensioner, stereo amp, and buttkicker amp`s are on a distribution pad, that is connected to a wifi controlled socket for supply. Can be switched on both with a button and through an app.

PC starts up with all software i normally run for sim, and i swith it off through 1 button on my streamdeck.

Doesn't your power strip have a on/off button?
This

I´ve been using a switchable powerstrip with over current protection for my Audio/Video setup for more than 20 years.

Also my simulator is powered by the same type, SC2, PC, monitors and amps are all connect to one wall outlet.
I was a little wary about the power requirements and EMI but so far zero problems.

To start it all up I switch on the power strip and hit the PC start button.
With that wheelbase, monitors and both audio and tactile amps are powered up.

On my cockpit I have seperate flip switches (with safety cover ) so I can select audio amp and (driver) cooling fan from my seat.

MFG Carsten

Yes, but it’s not within easy access…behind my monitor stands, under the pedal deck, buried under cable ties and god knows what else.

Really curious about this. Especially adding a button to the stream deck to power the devices.

That would make you let the pc start up fully first, to get the elgato + somekind of app going, and then push to start the powersupply for the rest of the equipment..

I just use a cheap app controlled socket i control from my phone.. (Tapo p100).

I use a 7" tablet that uses streamdeck like software (touchportal) for lots of things when the computer is running but another app for controlling smart power points so I can do that when the computer is starting up or not running.

I control my vr headsets power, my motion and seatbelt tensioner on their own plugs. About to add my three tactile amps on their own as well. Similar to you the power plugs are not easily accessible.

Also useful like when I was in bed the other night and used google home to pause the chromecast and saw tht the motion and VR were still on, I could turn them off there.

I don't have a dedicated computer for my rig. Every device on my rig that needs 220v is connected to a power strip placed on the base. Those that have a power switch are set to ON (for instance the Simucube or the motion platform). The power cord that comes from the strip is cut and spliced to a female connector screwed to a little box. When I want to use my cockpit, I grab a power cable that is under my desk and plug it to the female connector on my cockpit. Everything switches on. I also have a killer switch in between one of the cables of my power strip, so if I push it, everything switches off.

I use a master slave power strip: when I power on the PC the power strip detects it and switches on the rest of my equipment. The reverse is also true: when the PC is powered off the is rest is powered off too. Very handy.

Likewise

Likewise.
Since the PC is often NOT running sim,
all sim gear runs off a repurposed home theater power controller
which has a master power switch plus trigger input wired to the PC master slave power strip,
so sim gear powers up only when PC is running AND master power switch is on.

Funny, I just posted about this.
I just ordered these and they arrive today.

Currently I have my Left Front VR base station, my computer, my 2 x DSP's, and my 2 x Amplifiers on the same circuit and I have another base station in the opposite corner of the room and both switches are on the floor.

I thought this would be a decent convenience. I'll find out after it arrives today and I get it setup.

Definitely let me know how you feel on those as that is the same I have considered.

Just worried about any issues with using them with our wheelbases and the NLR V3.

The package just arrived I'm about to test it out.

I think the odds are pretty good that it will work. Considering they are reprogrammable and can be paired if you have more of them and are also numbered. There is likely a sequence of signals required to trigger them such that random EMI interference shouldn't do anything.

So far so good! I have one of them buried under the corner of a couch, but they are supposed to have a 100ft range.

I do have mine in corners of my room so that the closest one is still 6' from my rig. Not sure if that makes a difference. Obviously this is just a first test and not after any decent amount of seat time.

Ended up installing one this weekend(the same one linked in my OP).

I have all my sim devices plugged into two separate power strips(to two different outlets) and after testing I decided not to use it with the strip that connects my major $$$ gear such as the DD2 wheel and NLR V3. It may not be a problem to do so, but I was getting strange noises from the NLR V3 when I pushed the power switch that left me concerned. It again, may be not a problem, but I'm not taking chances.

So instead I just have the remote switch running for all devices that operate via Simhub(several amps, wind, etc...). Everything else I still manually turn on, but not having to manually switch anything Simhub related on beyond pressing the remote control is such a time saver. So it works great for that stuff, which arguably was the biggest reason I even wanted one.

Would something like this with a 12 or 14 gauge extension cord on the other end of it be "safe" for the wheelbase (sc2 pro)?

I would like to put a power switch on the front of my rig instead of having to reach behind the monitors to get to the back of the SC2, and I don't have the premium kill switch, just the standard one.
