Perhaps some extra Ambient Occlusion could be used around the mouth area of the skin, as on Rosati's actual Ape Proto, it is a fully-molded piece of bodywork. And since the model can't be edited, some more baked-in shading to give the visual impression of a molded-in mouth is the next best option.
