XB1 Assetto Corsa League for the XBOX ONE

Assetto Corsa Leagues are in the pre-production stage here, and some league members now in the Project Cars Xbox leagues are interested in forming a new league with AC shortly after release. The league is tentatively scheduled to start races every other Saturday at 9:30p BST; or 4:30p EDTUS.

Exactly what kind of cars and tracks (must be based on an actual league) is open to suggestion. There seems to be a heavy emphasis on GT and Touring cars, so they will get a good look.

With servers for multi-player a big question mark, as usual, and the communication with Kunos non existent for console users, whether Kunos decides to run their own bank of dedicated servers (like Turn 10) or rely on Microsoft servers, will have a substantial impact on whether Assetto will be successful on the xbox.

It's hard to imagine Assetto having more bugs at release than Project Cars, but that said, SMS has worked very hard to patch the game into something very special for console users. Nearly a patch per month is their average. As we all know, certain bugs are more harmful to league play than others, and only time will tell what these bugs may be, whether they will track PC bugs currently known, and whether Kunos will correct these bugs via aggressive patching, if necessary.

Assetto Corsa is coming to the PS4 and Xbox One in 2016. Here’s what we know

Last week we got our first look at GT Sport, but Sony’s flagship racer might not be the best racing game on the PS4 this year. Why? Because, Assetto Corsa, one of the most highly respected racing sims on the PC is soon making its way to the PS4 and Xbox One later this year. Simply put, Kunos Simulazioni’s racer features some of the most realistic and impressive handling you’ve ever experienced - and it’s coming to consoles in months. Want to know more? Read on for everything you need to know about Assetto Corsa on the PS4 and Xbox One, including the release date, what we’re expecting and any more news.

Assetto Corsa on the PS4 and Xbox One: Gameplay and handling
There isn’t any gameplay footage of Assetto Corsa on the Xbox One or PS4 yet, but having tested an early build on the PS4, it’s already going down as one of the best racing games I’ve ever played. Simply put, Assetto Corsa delivers a level of handling and car feedback that seems to leaves other games for dust - when using a wheel and no assists of course. There’s a reason why it's such a favorite with PC gamers.

And where does this handling come from? Assetto Corsa aims to use one of the most precise physics engines ever made, so over-zealous braking will cause flat-spots on your tires, and they’ll actually make a difference to your car’s handling. At the same time, you’ll also need to get heat into your tires for maximum performance. Get too cautious and you’ll lose heat, grip and laptime.

Assetto Corsa on the PS4 and Xbox One: Release date

Is it me, or do racing games *always* get pushed back? Assetto Corsa was supposed to be released just weeks after I’m writing this, but guess what? Its release date has been delayed again, so we’re currently working with a release date of August 26th. Fingers crossed it’ll actually ready by then.

Assetto Corsa on the PS4 and Xbox One: Car list

There isn’t an actual car list for Assetto Corsa on the PS4 and Xbox yet, but Kunos Simulazioni says there’ll be over 90 cars plus special editions to choose from. I’ve played a preview build of the game, and found the list to include all the cars you’d expect; and my favorite, the Ferrari 458 GT2. Interestingly, Kunos Simulazioni promised around 100 cars for console gamers back in January - and whether that number includes special editions remains to be seen. Don’t worry though, it’s almost certain the game will include cars like the McLaren P1, LaFerrari, McLaren 650S GT3 and other classics like the Sauber C9.

Assetto Corsa on the PS4 and Xbox One: Track list
Assetto Corsa will feature laser-scanned circuits in order to incorporate as much detail as possible, and although Kunos Simulazioni has previously put the number at around 20 tracks, we don’t have any solid information just yet. However, the game’s website does promise everything from Silverstone and Monza to the Nordschleife - and early previews of the game also included Brands Hatch and Spa.

Assetto Corsa on the PS4 and Xbox One: Game modes
Assetto Corsa might model itself as the ultimate racing sim, but it also comes with a range of modes to keep more casual gamers happy. As you’d expect, there’s free practice sessions, qualifying sessions and races - but there’s also a career mode along with unique events and other challenges. Although it goes against the thoroughbred nature of Assetto Corsa, they'll be drag races and drift challenges to contend with too - so you’ll be able to do something whether you’ve got a 15 minutes on track or 4 hours.

New circuits
We are glad to announce that we have signed a license agreement to bring you the popular – laser-scanned – RedBull Ring, that for some of you might also be known as the “A1 Ring”, the Austrian circuit that welcomed back the F1 Championship this year. We are also working on the historic version of Silverstone, and the 10km and Junior versions of the iconic Monza circuit, giving you the chance to enter the speed ring and race the historic F1 cars of Assetto Corsa. At the same time, we are also updating our first tracks created for the simulation, bringing them up to a similar level of detail and appearance as the latest releases. Other new track additions might follow during the year.
