Assetto Corsa or Competizione for a newbie.

Hello guys, I recently bought a logitech G29, it was a really good price and all the reviews says nice things about it. I know there are a lot of other better gear but, the thing is, I was never a big fan of motorsport nor never had any kind of experience, but I think it's a nice hobby to start!

So after a lot of youtube research I think Assetto Corsa may be the best cost/fun game to start. The question is Asseto Corsa or Asseto Corsa competizione? I would love a help to start in the right way!

There is no 'best'

Every sim has pro and cons. It depends what you personally want.

I always liked games which are highly moddable. It extends their lifetime, leaves room for creativity and there are endless cars and tracks. Therefore AC is my go to Sim. Because of its moddabillity, AC has a very big community. You have lots of options for cars, tracks, liveries.
There often are very cheap offers o get every DLC.
Mods like SOL and the CSP make the game much richer visually and elevate it on a higher level. Be sure to play it on PC because of that!

ACC is your go to Sim if you love GT3 cars. Since the latest patches it is absolutely breathtaking in terms of physics, graphics and the whole experience. Perfect! I personally am not a fan of GT3s, so i am not using it too often. But a complete GT4 package was announced, which should allow multiclassraces and much fun! The rating system is good, so competitiveness is always given. It has the superior physics and a weather system, something barely any sim has.

I like when it's highly moddable too, seems like the game never dies! Is there like a ranking system online? With special licenses and stuff like that? Should I buy it standard or ultimate edition (which is 50% off right now)?

Excellent video explaining how Sim Racing System works. Super easy to get into ranked races:).
Sim Racing System

There's tons of free content but I would recommend getting the Ultimate edition for the extra $20 because certain mods may require something from the official DLC. This way you're fully covered with zero limitations.

For my money, i'd go with AC for what you get for the money. I bought the Ultimate Edition on Steam around Christmas last year for $12. Four months later, I am still dumbfounded by all that i've gotten for a measly $12 and I haven't even scratched the surface on all of the mod car\tracks available. I've been tempted to try ACC, but can't justify the cost for what little you get out of it. I even broke down and bought rFactor 2 at a discount and while I think I like turning laps with it better than AC (because of the challenge of the driving model), I still spend the bulk of my time with AC. It looks better, has more content and is a bit easier to drive for a novice like me.

So yesterday after work I installed everything and went to play for the first time, already got content manager, sol and csp. (is there something else that is essential?) Got the configs from a guy name Karl Gosling on youtube, even with no experience whatsoever, I think the config is pretty good. And man, what a experience. Just started career mode with the 500cc, to get the basics, and I'm already struggling with the second race, but enjoying every second!

AC looking better than ACC is subjective as I prefer ACC. Having said that, I needed to upgrade my PC to be able to run ACC at high enough settings (Epic) for it to look better than AC.

I love AC for all of the other reasons posted here. But nowadays I'm just into GT3 and GT4 cars and team endurance racing (with driver swaps), so ACC is the way forward for me. Will still dip back into AC when I get the itch for my favourite circuits.

IMO you've done right by getting AC first, as it's best value and you don't need a super-pc to run it.

Hi! Yeah I'm not really into the models, don't really know what is GT3 and GT4 differences lol, but I want to test every kind of car, including F1, so I think I got it right. Thanks!
