Race cars with paddle shift of the last decades have had pneumatic activated gearboxes, GT, LMP, Formula, rally cars. It's the specific models (Megaline I think) used in the Audi/Porsche/Lamborghini/Bentley GT race cars where the sound of the actuator is most noticeable.
Yesterday, playing with the 911 GT3 R I noticed that sound even on the Porsche. It's way less noticeable than the R8, but it's there.
