Audio -Locked brakes problem on tarmac

Tobbe Bergman

@Simberia
I have been plagued by a very annoying audio problem and that is that the brake sounds get stuck when I drive at tarmac stages.

The brakes work as normal but it sounds like the brakes are locked.

I have reinstalled RBR but the problem won't go away.

Any help is greatly appreciated !

Thank You !

You may reinstall RBR a thousand times, but this would never solve that issue. ;)

These tyre screaming sounds are related to the v-sync setting.
For details you should have a look at FixUp's readme file.
With v-sync on you may also benefit from the adaptive force feedback built into the plugin.

I'm on holiday right now but when I come home I will try this !

I know I'm using fixup but not what version !

Hi Mikaela...maybe this help you...

Copy from the readme FixUp (Version 2.6)

Vertical Synchronization (V-SYNC)
---------------------------------
The fullscreen window mode revealed a bug in the sound processing when v-sync
is disabled. Especially on tarmac there are weird tyre sounds, in service
park there is some strange noise as well.
This patch allows you to specify whether to set the v-sync mode and if v-sync
should be enabled (the default) or disabled (see "Configuration").
It is recommended to enable the fix and to enable v-sync for a better gaming
experience.

That sounds like the issue I'm having !
Cant wait to get home and try it !

Thanks !

This is my FixUp.ini

[Settings]
fullscreenWindow=1
fixAspectRatio=1
fixVSync=1
vSyncActive=1
headGasketDurability=2
centerMenu=0
processor=0
adaptiveFFB=1
ffbBufferCycles=1

The audio seems fine now and I can finally hear the gear change sound effects now and the locked brakes are gone :D

The only problem that happens now is that I get some quite heavy chopping when taking hairpins (when the image moves fast sideways ) !
It used to be buttery smooth :(

Try deleting PaceNote.dll, just give it a try, it gave problems as well after install update 5!

By any chance, did any of the problems you are having started after installing update 5?
What i would do:
Ill try re-installing the car packs (Delete this registry before re-installing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SCi Games\Richard Burns Rally\RSRBR\Packs2015)

If it doesn't work, delete cars folder in your RBR directory, and delete the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SCi Games\Richard Burns Rally\RSRBR\Packs2015, then re-install your car packs

I don't have RSRBR.

I have the original RBR with a few mods like the numnotes102, GaugerPlugin, Colored Digidash_Mod_10 and FixUp and that's pretty much it !

Try this FixUp.ini

[Settings]
fullscreenWindow=0
fixAspectRatio=1
fixVSync=1
vSyncActive=1
centerMenu=0
headGasketDurability=0,65
fixMaterialMaps=1
processor=0
adaptiveFFB=0
ffbBufferCycles=1

Im guessing one of the plugins you are using is causing the problem...!
Did you install anything new on your computer?

Try this FixUp.ini

[Settings]
fullscreenWindow=0
fixAspectRatio=1
fixVSync=1
vSyncActive=1
centerMenu=0
headGasketDurability=0,65
fixMaterialMaps=1
processor=0
adaptiveFFB=0
ffbBufferCycles=1

These settings take me back to square 1 with the locked brakes issue :(

No new installs !

Put this setting back, (this is your previous FixUp.ini)

[Settings]
fullscreenWindow=1
fixAspectRatio=1
fixVSync=1
vSyncActive=1
headGasketDurability=2
centerMenu=0
processor=0
adaptiveFFB=1
ffbBufferCycles=1

Now we know that your problem is caused by a plug in, start your game without any plug in,
Also you can try installing RSRBR 2015 (Only the mod) because it does include new fixes and it will install clean plugins!

Check the MD5 before installing md5 = b0766ae05b2b0c815ea0609499b24b21

Sure ??

, start your game without any plug in
The tyre screaming sound does come from original RBR.
I won't explain this again.

Really ?
Just tell me which new fixes, please.
I am really curious, as I did not know that there is another plugin which applies relevant bug fixes to RBR besides FixUp (and Z.dll).

and it will install clean plugins!
Well, not necessarily, as it will install this weird eax_mix plugin.
This one indeed causes trouble which porridge and myself have tracked down a thousand times now ...

Honestly I am slowly beginning to regret trying to help people in this forum, as self-proclaimed experts always make a mess of it.

I never said i know exactly what's the problem until the FixUp.ini changed and the sound problem was back again... it doest take a genius to figure that one of the plug ins is causing the issue...

Again all RSRBR mods will install RBR both patches plus the whole plugin folder with pretty much all plugins (pacenotes manager, FixUp.ini, cam hack....etc) and other fixes , easy if you don't believe me, install RSRBR 2015 on an empty folder, and see what it installs.

I'm only trying to help.
