  • Implemented new LiveTrack wet weather rubber washing (rubber is now gradually washed away from track surface as it gets saturated with water)

  • Bumped headlight range from 160 to 240m for all cars

  • Added function to set different presets of rubber depending on type of session (making option available to player will soon follow)

FFB
  • Introduced routine to reset FFB in case of FFB loss (game detects the loss and reset FFB automatically, should be seamless for player)
  • Adjusted default FFB profile for more accurate self-aligning torque, milder force spikes over big bumps and other such sudden tire oad.change; adjusted effect from braking torque (should provide better feedback during lockups); split FX signal from Low Force Boost setting

PHYSICS
  • Added slow damping function to all tires (generally improves tire damping & fixes bouncing effect at very slow speeds previously proeminent in formula cars)
  • Added intermediate & extreme tyre compounds for modern protos, GTs & formulas
  • Adjusted tire tread for 60s touring cars, Opalas, Copas Fusca, Uno, Truck, Caterham Academy & F-Trainer
  • Adjusted semi-slick tire tread (F-Trainer Advanced, Caterhams, ARC Camaro)
  • Adjusted F-Vee, Opala 1979 & Old Stock tire treads
  • Increased RPM threshold for reduced engine life in 2-stroke karts
  • Moved Metalmoro AJR diffuser center of pressure rearwards by 2cm (slightly rebalancing overall aero distribution)
  • Slightly falloff rates in rain for all slick tires (addressing issues with tires losing all adherence beyond a certain saturation point)
  • Minor stifness adjustment to GT / Proto / StockCar tire carcasses
  • Added minor preload resistance to open diffs in cars with more powerful engines
  • Adjusted Porsche 911 GT1 engine compression curve
  • Adjusted default gear ratios for Mclaren F1 GTR & Mercedes CLK in GT1 class
  • Minor crankshaft mass adjustments to F1 cars
  • Corrected 720S GT3 negative rear toe setting (setup reset recommended)
  • Moved default brake bias slightly rearwards for Copa Truck, F-Trainers (requires setup reset recommended)

AI
  • Various AI behavior improvements, adding car-specific parameters to improve their overtaking assesments both against human player and AI vs AI
  • Added car-specific overrides for previously global parameters controlling the amount of lifting off the throttle AI would do while running over puddles, & introduced new car-specific parameter controlling the amount of lifting while on wet tires (generally less than on dry tires, improves their straightline performance when going through large amounts of standing water)
  • Added several car-specific overrides for previously global AI parameters such as brake and reaccelaration distance thresholds, start reaction times, distance triggers for defending position
  • Reduced likelihood of AI crashing into wall when side by side with human
  • Increased AI drivers performance range
  • Minor AI callibration pass for performance dropoff with tire wear
  • Azure: Smoothed corridors in several locations
  • Slightly increased AI grip @ Bathurst, Nurburgring GP & Velocitta

TRACKS
  • Adelaide: reduced road mesh noise; smooth curb at entrance to T13
  • Imola: Fixed camera man pop up
  • Kyalami: removed glitchy helicopter animation
  • Silverstone: trimmed 3D grass clipping walls in some places; fixed a few object pop ups; consolidated some grand stands into larger objects (same materials); optimized shadows
  • Revised "Max AI participants" for various tracks, correcting when this differed from available garage slots
  • Disabled DOF blur in all trackside VR cams for tracks that have them (currently only Grade A tracks)

VEHICLES
  • F-V10 Gen2: fixed visual tire tread not corresponding the actual tire when switching from wet to dry
  • F-Classic (all gens): added Dirt/Scratch map + New UV channel 3 mapping for carbon fiber cockpit material
  • Copa Montana: added Dirt/Scratch map
  • BMW M6 GT3: Fixed red carpaint issue in cockpit view (car #91)
  • F-V10: Fixed visual glitch with windscreen in rain
  • Gol Classic B: Fixed front splitter glitch
  • Ultima GTR: Fixed oil pressure needle
  • F3 F309: corrected RPM bars range
  • Lancer R & RS: Livery override entry added for windscreen and wing
  • Corrected cockpit POV in Metalmoro AJR, Mclaren 570S, Ultima GTR
  • Corrected rain tire tread for F-Retros

Huge update again

Of course all depends on what one consider huge, I do not see it as huge in light of all that still needs to be addressed, more like an other, welcome, step in the right direction, on a long journey.
We have repeatedly been asked to be patient, which we are, every improvement is welcome, but let's stay lucid on the state of AMS2.

Thx a lot to Reiza !!! What a great job they have done again !

I really can't decribe my feelings when driving these cars, I have seen live racing in the early 90's.

I have already uploaded my first look and a quick 15min race to Youtube (check for my username AFRUGA67 and "Group C" on YT to see the incredible race action)

AMS2 is going to be the best racing sim ever , but please Reiza add some guy waving the chequered flag at the end of a race and a winners podium. It is always dissapointing to finish a race without receiving any rewards , just seeing the race timer going to zero.

But again, Reiza is doing superb work delivereing motorsports to race enthusiasts around the globe !

A sad state of affairs.
After a year, I don't see the point in believing in AMS2. I hope that I am wrong.
 
This latest update has transformed the driving feel of many cars plus introduced promising new content, but I guess the naysayers just need to copypaste their usual comments without even giving it another try.
It's the same thing in every thread - blah, blah, something has changed. Every time I go in, I don't see any change. Okay.

There is a lot of good content in AMS2. Even more than the others. But one thing is missing - normal FFB and physics without jumping.

"4 horses wooden wheel wagons at full speed in RDR2 bounce less than a GT3 car in silverstone.

Are you driving Silverstone '75 from bonnet cam or something? Modern Silverstone is perfectly smooth with almost no "bouncing" (a meme at this point more than reality), as shown in this video:

 
The VR experience of 962 and Nordschleife is top notch, visually blows Raceroom away.

On a negative note anyone else think the actual collision physics is messed up? Cars seem to be literally bouncing off each other. I gave the new stock cars a run around Oulton and it seemed like putting 2 magnets with equal polarity together. This wasn't barging or ramming it was more rubbing is racing type stuff.

Friend, that's a quote - I'm trying out new content in AMS2, but after 60 hours of testing left... this one behind.

My words(and those of the person in the quote) can be taken not seriously. But statistics are hard to refute - less people want to play AMS2. Those who need simcade choose PC2/3/etc, those who need online/AI race/Hotlap - iRacing, ACC, Raceroom, RF2.

AMS2 remains a simulator with huge physics problems. I can't even name its audience.

I say all sims I own not one has changed or improved physics markedly from release no matter how many updates .

Wow. Just wow. Thank you for this. Group C and spa plus 93 for example, top tier racing. Say what you want about it being naff or all the same. This is like the Bentley 8 in pcars2, whatever... It just works. And the 93 track puts me back in the 90s.

I'm entertained and it's on the default force feedback.

What's wrong with some people Sheesh. I think some people need to go have another drive in a better mood. It's tight now, weighty, it's doing a lot right. Importantly it's not absurd and it's lots of fun.

If you want real life speed and you're povvo go buy a motorbike and flog it for thrills. This is a game. Flog it happily and with less nitpicking.

Why this attitude? I think it just became a top 3 sim. In the field. I'm not talking who simulates gravity the best or something and yeah 130km hour out the pit...I made it leap into the air.. Top 5 at worst.

Very enjoyable. And I stand by that. It's got a good feel across a lot of cars. A couple more updates and the hope abandoners will probably get their wish.

People in the future always backwards rationalize things. They'll say wow! Who would have thought!

Nothing wrong with doing something else though. I went missing for months at one point

Nothing wrong with the models from pCars, I still think the cars in it look great and it's becoming a trope for people to say this as if it's a bad thing, I don't remember many people complaining about their looks.

Despite Reiza saying they were using assets from SMS and modifying them it still seems to be something to berate them about.

After trying a few cars, I have not experienced any “transformation”, any change is rather subtle, which is a good thing if someone liked the title before the update.
To me AMS2 has a special, as in different, driving feel than any other title, I cannot say it is my favorite, but I can understand some people would like it. I would say it has a Brazilian flavour.
Not a bad thing as such, as their is reward in diversity, unfortunately, for me, it is not among my favorite feel, which does not mean that it would not be fun in some occasions.

See, this is a comment I can respect.

AMS2 does feel different, for some of us, it actually feels better than anything else. Some people will like it, some people won't... and some people (those who were probably dropped on their heads as babies) will endlessly bash it just because it's not their thing and because AMS2 getting praise takes some away from "their" sim.

Again, I respect your post. I want to like AC for example but I can't gel with the driving feel. Same thing for rF2, most people swear by its physics and FFB and to me it feels like I'm driving hoverboards, with only a few exceptions. That is, TO ME. How I feel about them. I would never go to the threads on those sims forums to bash them, I'm not 13 years old. Live and let live. Or drive and let drive.

To me AMS2 has improved steadily and it's been a few months already since it has gone to the top of my list for pure driving FUN. This game has brought a smile to my face just for the way some of the cars drive and feel, and for that alone it deserves my praise. Some other sims may do some things better (I still go to ACC for "competitive" racing), but no other sim is as fun for me. And after all, I do this sim racing thing for fun. :)

Totally agree, this latest update is a great example of Reiza steadiness at improving their title. Also worth noting that they have been true to their words since the beginning, understanding and acknowledging the title shortcomings, the candour and lucidity is refreshing. I am quite found of Reiza as a developer, even though what they are producing might not be targeted to my particular taste, they deserve respect from all of us from their hard work to the dedication they show to their supporters.
As every month, I am looking forward to next month update, have fun with what is offered.
AMS2 does not have to be the sim of all sim to be of value and deliver simulation gratification, none of the sim deliver an ultimate experience, it is all about compromise and individuals perceptions on what constitutes a better experience.
Reiza and AMS2 already belong in the select group of serious simulator contender, what thier relentless quest for improvements will bring us in the future is for us to cherish and enjoy.
